Do you even understand what you’re saying?

I wish I could make a career of being scared of everything but, like, scary things

I’ve heard similar concerns as Noah primarily because for a plumbing (or electrical or other similar things) call, there’s literally no type of vetting of the people or location. It’s just a “I need this” call. There’s certainly lots of reasons, but I don’t think this particular one is ridiculous

When thinking of dems and Biden, in this context, I think of how far they went for the “peaceful transition of power” to be openly welcoming to the person they kept/keep saying would literally destroy the country

Yep fuck these people. One of the best environmental campaigns I ever saw some of was Appalachians Against Pipelines in West Virginia. Openly about a lot more than one pipeline and very openly and made up of trans and queer folks. It lasted a long time and built a lot because of that.

My initial thought when seeing that asshole post something is "of course, he's a rich white asshole who has always been terrible and his audience is white male idiots who love guns and shirtless dudes but hate gays" and then I remember how big that following is. Bleh.

Ok I like this one. And I especially like that the nice lady fried all of that for herself because everyone needs a treat these days.

accelerationism is not synonymous with escalation. fedposting is only impressive to the feds monitoring a massive dragnet waiting to find people to scoop up. you’re not a hero or a martyr getting locked up over posts. please stop running head first into the meat grinder.

I really don’t understand why people treat them as anything more than a Republican outlet. Is it cause of 1 or 2 libs being involved?

The ghostbusters used the statue of liberty long after it was given so it's basically the same, though.

It will make you feel so much better. And ignore anyone who tells you whichever thing you actually DO is pointless. They aren’t doing shit, guaranteed. Something I’ve really tried to embrace, as a former “why bother” type, to paraphrase @prisonculture.bsky.social “you don’t know what will work”

Damn wait you make money and spend it on housing??

Figuring things out that help navigate the world can be really really good, though. Doesn’t change who you are, can help you change the parts you want to change

virginia is practically the epicenter of trump's attacks on the federal government and if warner can't credibly perform opposition to the president then i think he's toast. the real question is whether there is a virginia democrat ambitious enough to throw caution to the wind and go after him.
comment in response to post
He also keeps voting to confirm all but the worst of trump’s nominees. Warner has been my senator for a very long time, and he’s always been a pretty terrible Warhawk centrist.
comment in response to post
Eh I just disagree that people who don’t like radical ideas are radical, I don’t really think it’s a purity test in that way. I just think a lot of *people* call themselves radical when they’re just centrist libs in what they’d actually do or support.
comment in response to post
Those weren’t radicals, those were libs who then got scared of other libs.

To be clear, I don’t think you should be friends with cops. I glanced at your profile, and cops are the enforcers of everything you claim to be against. You shouldn’t be happy cops are showing up to arrest people. Even if you say mux for some weird reason.
comment in response to post
Ok have fun being friends with cops

All the police and private security goons I’ve ever encountered believe this, too. Just worth knowing.

Warned by who, and how? Cause I have never seen any real outreach that gets to rural folks in a meaningful way. But sure, just accept that you can’t work with 70% of people to improve things and see where that gets us all. Throw in that it’s good they’re suffering and I can’t see a problem.
comment in response to post
Yeah. And people thought Joe manchin was a democrat, and that Biden was a green president who wouldn’t do genocide. People are lied to constantly in this system, it’s how it works. Finding those people when they realize they’ve been lied to can be really powerful AND good for everyone

There’s a lot of us living in these areas that are working to build community, help people find a path forward that doesn’t fuck us all, and help folks that aren’t terminally online understand what is happening and who their neighbors actually are Nobody with this dumbass “FAFO” take is doing shit
comment in response to post
Will do! Have appreciated your writing for a long time, especially reasoned takes on the hellsite, as I’ve been dealing with everything going on but some serious internalized ableism in the last year and realizing how fucked I might be. Thought I was doing good, too

Do you think the assholes you voted to confirm are better than this particular asshole? You’re a coward and love war criminals, I wish you’d resign and take your job at Grumman or wherever already.

I love the argument “you shouldn’t have responded to the thing we made much more accessible to the public earlier than our longer piece”

While everything you said in this post is incredibly dumb, I’d especially love to see your definition of stockpile.

It felt a bit silly to do until it worked so well.

I love this because it’s such good advice. Some of my friends and I have been organizing games days with folks we’re trying to build relationships with and it has opened up so many opportunities to plug into different things. And we just play outside tailored to who comes.

Stop supporting the nominees of the “threat to democracy” would be an easy start. You won’t do shit, I’ve lived in your state long enough to know that.
comment in response to post
How are you going to fight it? Be specific. Ps we know you aren’t you fucking asshole shill
comment in response to post
So uh. What do we pay you for? If it’s actually guacamole I’m gonna feel a little disenfranchised

I really urge you to interrogate the rot within yourself if your first response to folks is to gleefully tell them they deserve it because they didn't vote or whatever. Lead with empathy, choose connection over cruelty, and maybe send that rage in the right direction. Solutions, ppl...solutions
