I don't consume a lot of IGN content, but definitely appreciate you on Scoop. Hope you keep coming πŸ™‚

Maybe you should ban video games too. And movies. Books?

Oh goodie, like there's not enough unfounded nonsense going around already... If you want to help, use your influence to improve the rights of sex workers, don't perpetuate the very misconception, which makes people think mistreating them is ok.

That thought crossed my mind many times. We might have forgotten how bad things were. Without peace, freedom, modern medicine, scientific advancement. We don't value what we have. As a society, we seem to go backwards. I'm born and raised atheist, but I might try praying as well πŸ˜…

It's exactly as you said. They refuse to talk about war, populism, immigration, and instead keep mesaging on human rights and lgbtq+. They offer no solutions, just nice ideals. They need to do way better.

In Czechia virtually none. Some people from Pirates switched to Volt, which gave them a bit of publicity, but not in a good way. It's just further fragmentation. They feel more present in Belgium, but still marginal.

It's kind of crazy how many populist parties we have and how much support they show in polls 🫣
comment in response to post
Exactly. This is why many people including me dread the next election 😞 Worst case scenario we get a mix of Slovakia/Hungary shift to authoritarian, with Trump's blatant rerouting of public money into his and his friends' businesses. Best case we get a coalition where he can't do all he wants.
comment in response to post
Green and Pirates are pro-EU, IMHO generally stabilising power, so it would be nice to see them grow, but IMHO they need to improve outreach and stop bickering with Volt and find a common platform.
comment in response to post
Populism is key, but far right topics bring voters rn. All the populist parties are in PfE and message strongly on patriotism, anti-immigrant, anti-minorites and anti-green topics. To be fair, yes, the "common people" is part of the messaging too. It resembles national socialism most of all to me.
comment in response to post
ANO once started as left-ish, but it's been commonly adopting narratives that capture the most voters, most recently far-right-ish. They even switched fraction in EP to PfE.
comment in response to post
What lw parties? there are none with any substantial support. Yes, the remainders of communists are on the same populist pro russian bandwagon, but they barely have enough to make the 5% cutoff. The libs are pro EU pro human rights. The polls leading party is a weird populist mixture.

and the associated culture shock. It's like well programmed cancer. It finds the fears and worries of people and abuses them to gain political traction. It's disgusting and when you look at it holistically, it looks like a long-term sabotage, or an intrinsic flaw of the current system. Or both.
comment in response to post
In Belgium they feed on the prevailing separatistic tendencies of part of the population. Add the oil and meat lobby and you have some traction for anti-system as well, albeit not as strong. In Germany the main problem seems to be the people and system being exhausted by the number of immigrants...

The RW is the same as everywhere, lying about minorities, lying about political opponents, lying about EU, acting like saviours that will preserve the past, often funded from the east. People are scared shitless and trust them implicitly because they agree the current system doesn't work.
comment in response to post
I grew up in Czechia and I'm not sure it's so simple. This might be one of the things the rw propaganda feeds off off, but it's far from the only one. It's the same as everywhere. Anti-EU rhetoric has been a way to score easy votes for a while, twisting the EU regulations in the process...

Poland has that going at least, indeed. Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Nederlands, or Belgium don't. (Just from the top of my mind, I might be misremembering. ) It's positive, but it seems an exception. We need yo start agreeing on some basic truths, otherwise there's no dialog.

I hoped the US situation would open some eyes, but that doesn't seem to be happening. As a society, we deserve all that's coming. I just mourn all the good and all the innocent that will succumb to this. I fear the future for myself, my family, and everybody who can see evil for what it is.

This is critical. And it's similar in many European countries. Reality percieved in two completely opposite ways within the same state. Very often rural vs. cities. It seems too late to reconcile this. People from the anti-system pro-russia pool subscribe to violence. I can't see this ending well.

I think so too. I really think social networks of AI bots consuming and producing generated content, but outside of interest of real people is very likely. Spam of the AI age. More annoying and more expensive than ever.
comment in response to post
I'm not interested in generated content, so I'm hoping others won't be either, but I admit it's wishful thinking. As long as there is @nebula.tv with real content, that's where I'll be watching real people.

V Belgii maji normalni znacky (ne na prani) uprostred tri pismena. Obcas z toho vznikaji docela vtipnosti. Ale onehda jsem videl BMW co melo na znacce BWM, a to mi teda zlomilo mozek.

Standart authoritarian propaganda. Any critic of the regime is by definition a terrorist. Blame them for whatever, even precautionarily, and put them to jail. They fear words, and they fear intellect because all they have is lies and violence.
