Hooray for more chicken related puns in headlines! 🐀

Usborne has inked a β€œmajor” six-figure three-book with Sophie Anderson, the first title of which will be the sequel to her global bestselling debut, The House with Chicken Legs. πŸ‘‡ #BookSky

This is lovely news for an author I admire and interesting from a publishing POV - Usborne has traditionally done in house fairy tale collections, an author-led one is a brand new thing for them, alongside Sophie's fiction www.thebookseller.com/rights/usbor... #KidLitUK @sophieanderson.bsky.social

Are you ready to run with the house again? πŸ›–πŸ€πŸ§™β€β™€οΈπŸ’€βœ¨ I'm thrilled to announce the sequel to The House with Chicken Legs will publish next year, with cover art by Melissa Castrillon & internal illustrations by Elisa Paganelli 🀩 You can find out more here πŸ‘‰ bit.ly/4ceu7xu πŸ—žοΈπŸ™πŸ’œ

Huge thanks to ALCS and all the teachers, librarians and other professionals who photocopied extracts of my books and logged this. As always, these payments are hugely appreciated and make a big difference to creatives' ability to make a living creating! πŸ™πŸ–ŠοΈπŸ“š

One of my fave times of the year - the announcement of the Jhalak Prize longlist. I'm going to have to add some of these to my ever-growing reading list 😍. Glad to see Flower Block on there too, a wonderful picture book!

While I fully understand the anxiety some authors have about school visits, as a Black children’s book creator, I definitely underestimated the impact me showing up at a school visit has on a child and their worldview of who gets to do what for a living…especially on the Black children present.

It's been a privilege to have a platform to highlight topics I care so deeply about - @booktrust.org.uk writer in residence (outgoing).

For all the authors now home safe after a busy WBD-week last week, I've made a follow-up to @simonjamesgreen.bsky.social's bingo to help you remember the happy times! πŸ“šβ™₯️
