I don’t think that’s true of a painting, say. Aesthetic judgement is necessary to make it, but if that judgement is poor then the painting will be crap.

I’m making what’s possibly a tedious philosophical point: aesthetic judgement might be involved but isn’t necessary to game design. Personally, I don’t think the player’s aesthetic response to playing a game makes it art but on the other hand Duchamp would differ.
