and this is why even “AI skeptics” will “believe” the lie machine when it lies to them about what it’s doing, or how it was trained, or that it can or can’t do something 100% of LLM output is generative, which means 100% of it is potentially total fabrication, even “status messages”

"There are good, specific use cases for AI in history" fuck off. No historical work is so important that we need to pave over ecosystems near Black and brown neighborhoods for data centers that drain the local water supply. Just bc you say you're using it ethically doesn't mean you actually are.

I wish people would just start blowing up genAI data centers because I don't know how much longer I can take seeing shit like this every fucking goddamn day of my life

It’s the reason Generative AI targeted and devalued animation artists FIRST. It’s why no one took us seriously when we stepped onto the frontlines and said “No more.” It’s because so few value the art and artist. And if you think it won’t be you next: well, you’re in for a sore awakening.

Creators of LLMs benefit from the general purposeness of their products because we have no constraints on what it means for them to *work* They can always escape accountability because a "use case" is an abstract concept that the products will never be optimised for.

Honestly I’m glad that AI companies are getting sued, not because I like Disney, but because I recognize that AI companies would have never respected Artists work otherwise.

artisan craftwork and tradespeople are largely lumped in "bullshit fake degrees" by a vast number of people, i.e. the "underwater basket weaving" that people keep harping on for some insane reason. in like 10 years everyone who knows how to repair a typewriter will be dead

leather can be refinished. polyurethane or "vegan leather" fall apart and can't be repaired. owning one well crafted moderately pricey garment or accessory isn't like, conspicuous consumption
