I am too. It’s just such a waste of luke Skywalker. I really don’t understand how anyone other than Rian thought it was a good idea. In a vacuum it’s not awful but applied to Luke Skywalker of all characters is pretty wild.

I love how their answer always is ā€œit’s not us that’s the problem - we don’t need to change anything everā€
comment in response to post
This is made up yet you say it with so much self-assurance.

People might be ok with it for a little bit. But imo it’ll just become the new shovelware if this is ever adopted

They’ll do this but won’t let trolls wear boots

Additionally, it is absurdly arrogant that they wrote this, and then killed him off immediately afterward. they were so confident in their deconstruction they ended future story possibility for the character.
comment in response to post
This is not the same thing as bitter adults who grew up on the OT shitting on the prequels because it was different. People don’t just dislike Luke because he’s different it’s how hes different. Also Luke didn’t need to be deconstructed lol. It’s antithetical to the character he is.
comment in response to post
I think what people who defend Luke’s behavior in TLJ this way fail to understand, especially using those sorts of arguments, is that it is not consistent with what we knew about Luke already. It’s ok to change stuff it’s not ok to make him do something he just wouldn’t do to force an arc.

It makes you wonder what irl races the authors took inspiration from.

It’s becuase democratic leadership and their consultants refuse to say ā€œthe actual problem are the billionaires and corporations infiltrating our political systemā€ they have nothing to point to so they pay people like Yglesias a bunch of money to come up with a bunch of bullshit
comment in response to post
No one says this. Democrats run zero counter messaging. If democrats want to win they have to be proactive not reactive to however the GOP shapes public sentiment
comment in response to post
It’s an interesting look into how an argument can be persuasive while being composed of a bunch of poorly researched bullshit.

Yall will do anything other than fight for justice.

Yeah hanks distinction is kind of meaningless. Yeah they didn’t literally do it for mustache twirling, destroy the world reasons. But they also knew of the consequences and didn’t care. That’s still evil

I can buy that there are some people who just parrot RLM takes without thought because it’s been repeated so much. But it’s almost become its own weird case study in people’s willingness to spread misinformation because they need it to be true to justify their irrational hatred of an artist.
comment in response to post
It’s one of those things that seems like it could be true at face value until you realize they both likely had very similar inspirations. And a lot of the similarities are also superficial
comment in response to post
There are a lot of liberals on this site and sadly they do not understand jokes. Conservatives are sadly correct about that. Broken clock and all that.
comment in response to post
But imagine if Vader just decided not to kill the emperor to save Luke. In the mind of a liberal centrist that’s what they would want you to do.
comment in response to post
There’s something to be said for vengeance being bad in a spiritual sense. Keeping the person angry etc. And if that’s what she wanted to explore I get that even though it’s been done a million times in the same way. But Garrosh was also monster and killing him would have made the world better. 1/2

Why is this your angle
comment in response to post
I loathe that I read this in both pronunciations lmao
comment in response to post
Because they just projected what they wanted onto him and ignored all other evidence.
comment in response to post
They could, but the people in the party who have most of the power actively stifle progress within the party

650 million feels like an insane amount of money for a show lol. At least the visuals reflect that budget!

Awww man that’s so cool. You love to see it

That second one is really cool especially. The way the clouds line up with the mountain tops make it look like the mountains have an aura

I want this one so bad. there’s so much to mine there.

It also erroneously assumes that people understand what heights are relative to their own by just the numbers. I guarantee you most people could not tell the difference between 5 10 and 6 as long as those two people weren’t standing directly side by side

I think JJ is pretty much everything that people will sometimes accuse Lucas and Filoni of. JJ uses iconography for flavor with no meaning or intent behind the inclusion.
comment in response to post
don’t they get training of some kind to not look like a complete buffoon lmao? How is this person in any proximity to power.

You cooked with this one
comment in response to post
The democrats barely lift a finger in speaking for social justice of any kind beyond lip service, and you have conservative liberals being like ā€œwe must not only be useless but also antagonisticā€
comment in response to post
You guys were already tacking to the right on this. You can be fore social justice too. But center economic policy at the front of the message. Conservatives spend every second shaping public opinion. Liberals only react during election cycles. Be better.
