The convicted felon Donald Krasnov Trump will force his sycophants to say this was the largest turnout in the history of all turnouts or some such bullshit. Time to introduce him to Wes Unseld, Elvin Hayes, Bob Dandridge, Tom Henderson, and Phil Chenier.

They have as much "power to detain anyone" as you or I do. Zero! Not only is it wrong but they're in uniform and know they have no right to detain anyone, especially American Citizens! They're breaking the law for their 'leader.' 😠 They know they'll be pardoned for it.

okay so if this is accurate we're saying, active duty Marines we're stationed at the fucking VA, and then detained a vet outside the fucking VA. Just trying desperately for my brain to accept that this is really happening. If we don't have all the facts straight it's obvious they detained him but tf

Which is a violation of Posse Comitatus Act, big time.

He is a citizen and veteran. I heard he crossed a yellow tape line outside of the VA to get to a scheduled appointment there.

That U.S. Marine has an interesting mustache. It looks kind of familiar.

Imagine. The decades of honor of the USMC was just shit down the drain by these two pukes.

It changes the optics, I think. And they absolutely should be arrested for breaking the law and have all their military benefits stripped from them and their family for the rest of their lives.

Looks pretty Hitler esque to me. It's kind of beside the point because Marines aren't allowed to arrest people in this country so it's a really big fucking deal and the moustache isn't helping it not look like a bunch of Nazis

It does matter and we need to make it matter

In theory/legally they aren't (per the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878). But that just doesn't matter.

The 250th anniversary of the Army is marked by it turning on its own people. America has a long, long way to come back from all this. Authoritarian dictatorship & fascism. Unfolding right in front of our eyes.

These days, the relevant dividing line is not free versus restricted speech. Rather, it's favored versus disfavored speech. Trump is very explicit about which is which. As @attorneynora.bsky.social recently said, "the point is to create a climate in which people are worried to speak out."

It’s the billionaire credo, “self before country.” bsky.app/profile/gopj...
