First square (unblocked, obvs) I'm not a fan of blocking (too faffy and I'm not going to do it every time I wash it and if I'm gifting to a non-yarny person they are never going to dream of doing it). Nonetheless I might give this a hint of steam once I've joined it all. Using DK not 4ply = bigger

Also, I think it was you I have to thank for finding this pattern. I trawled through endless amount of patterns for "neck" and then I recalled you mentioning a bandana being something I could make with my yarn. And though I want it a teensy bit bigger I thought I cld adapt a bandana pattern. And lo!

Despite each square only taking about 35mins, and despite only having to make 4 whole ones and three half ones, I suspect this will be slow going. Lots of mini hiatuses (haitii?) and a lot of procrastination before tackling the joining. So don't hold your breath for any meaningful pics!

I've never counted but reckon i have of couple month's worth if you count the emergency all-but-unwearable biggish knickers which despite being big don't cover my generous butt cheeks and creep into the crack. SO uncomfortable. Can't throw them away because they've hardly been worn 🤣

Of course you may! It's this one: ravel.me/golden-hour-... I must say it's one of the clearest, well written patterns I've ever tried to follow. I've never done a squares alll joined together pattern before which is daunting but there's a video to follow for this 😍. Halfway through 2nd square

Just south of the border it's due to reach 28 tomorrow. I have a narrow window of perfect temperature (22-25) and that exceeds it! I won't melt, but I will go into languid mode

I like a warm evening 😍 It'll be 23 in the afternoon rising to 25 at 7 then gradually cooling to 16 overnight. Eating al fresco weather!

I'm not into law and never looked at it at the other place so I can't comment on that. I haven't been to the other place since I deleted my account. What I would say is that I've found more of my tribe here. You two among them. I never knew you at the other place but I found you here. Prefer here

Its lovely, isn't it? 😍

I just don't do stress. It's... stressful. I think it harms both mental and physical health. We only have one life and I want to be as happy and healthy as possible. I just couldn't deal with the stress and pressure you have on a daily basis. I made a choice and removed myself from that world

It's why I've chosen a physical job rather than one with responsibility and stress. I do get to use my brain a little and anyway, that can be rigorously exercised outside of work, but being able to just do the job and skip away when it's finished with no cares or worries is worth more than money
comment in response to post
Yup! That's it... Hoping a good lie in tomorrow will sort me. I find physical tiredness easy to recover from. It's tiredness caused by stress and anxiety that does me in for days

Which I 100% agree with you on. I kinda see the idea behind uniform levelling school kids out (although I'm not sure how much it actually does), but uniforms for adult workers is an abomination. I have to wear a black polo shirt. Black is NOT my colour. I seethe with resentment every day

I don't think I care for them much either tbh. Don't like Gandalf either (except for the labrador named Gamdalf who belonged to the local Catholic priest and used to wander around the village by himself. He was a legend)

I don't have the energy to be that dynamically excited! It's been a long, hard, physically tiring week 😩 I'm just looking forward to doing nothing and be able to wake up naturally after 9 hours of sleep, rather than wake to a 6am alarm

We had to wear blazers at school. In winter we wore a big coat over them. In summer we stuffed them in our bags. I hate uniform so don't think they should be mandatory at all, but I did like my blazer when I was a kid. It was the feeling of being grown up that I actually liked!

Yeah. If Al could see into your head and realise all those stories for you in your own voice and style and do all the slog work of writing, self-editing, rewriting, then it would be a genuinely useful thing. But it can't and it very likely isn't

I've just looked up Clan of the Cave Bear and it mentions Earth's Children... No wonder I got confused - Earthsea/Earth's Children! In my head that's twins

Are you saying wizards never existed and aren't sort of believable?

I'd be able to write a chapter. And possibly a couple of paragraphs of another, though not necessarily the next one. And then I'd become horrified by the amount of work needed to get the stories on paper and immediately stop. (I'd keep a print out and yrs later find it and wonder what possessed me)

Are you the little girl who was the old BBC2 ident? 😍

If I had it in me I think I should write the grown up version of Magic Faraway Tree. No aliens like in Star Trek, just woodland creatures and mad, mythical beings and fairy folk. No epic battles. Just silly little adventures which end in time to go home for tea or to the pub to tell your mates
comment in response to post
I was talking about the fantasy genre with our volunteer just yesterday. I basically want The Magic Faraway Tree for grown ups (without the racism, bigotry and gender stereotypes). I haven't found anything like that ever. Though we did wonder if Star Trek came close - a different land every ep etc

Also, I feel very squirmy about biopics of living people
comment in response to post
Also, wizards and earthsea is clearly a fantasy universe and i imagine clan of the cave bear is the same. So no wonder i got them confused/conflated!

I think it's that they both have middle initials and (to me) French sounding initials. I had actually only heard of what turns out to be Jean M Aul. Having realised that Ursula K Leguin isn't the Cave Bear author, I also realise that until I saw her name on social media posts I'd never heard of her

You're not. So underwhelmed with Season one I never bothered with the other two. I do know what a Jason Isaacs is though

I don't generally buy homey things, but wandering around the homware bit of sainsburys after work is a real decompressing activity for some unfathomablen reason. I smell most of the candles, eye up the duvet sets, wander along the crockery section and browse the mugs. Zen

Oh, I won't be asking for one of those... As annoying gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant being the combo of dairy in the ice cream and wheat in the cone is a big no-no (Also...*whispers almost inaudibly* I find ice cream too cold and it hurts the roof of my mouth so I don't really like it)
comment in response to post
Genuinely difficult decision and if was in the lamp market then I would go for a non-matching pair, ie one of each. If was told I'd have a cold for the rest of my life if I didn't choose just one, then the one on the left just slightly edges. Just right now, in this moment. It could change tho...
