I just seen who the writer is and I was so happy. She's a famous rich kid socialite who has written a number of opinion pieces that say "just because I was born rich doesn't mean I'm useless. I've worked hard to get where I am!" She is a famous joke in the political world.

Thank you! I did think Netflix had a good chance with that terrifying teaser trailer for their remake but it then went viral for one comedic scene and everyone called it a joke movie not long after. Imagine The Black Phone team working on something similar.
