i don’t know what to say about the images coming out of LA right now. but in case you need it, here’s a reminder that out in the streets, only water goes in your eyes. flush with water. take your clothes off when you get home & take a cool shower, wash yourself with dish soap a few times. godspeed.

I think what’s repellent here is that the premise of “The Ethicist” is fundamentally trivial—heyyy a Princeton philosopher agony-aunts your dumb modern manners dilemmas!—and when it’s put to work on a topic like this it’s faintly obscene. Like, wait, you’re serious? You think this is what Ethics is?

Every so often, political media will go out of its way to create a story and then externalize it as though it happened naturally at the hands of some other party. "Continued questions" from whom? "Emerging" from where? This is police shooting-speak.
