Using big LLMs for basic queries is 'like turning on stadium floodlights to look for your keys' - this is good on the AI environmental questions.

I enjoy the Friday newsletter from @tripeanddrisheen.bsky.social . It's interesting, broad, funny & they've tackled issues (eg twitter hacking) that other publications haven't. I'm sure once the other journalists hear they'll be writing opinion pieces about how this is a threat to democracy etc.

Well, they finally pulled the plug on de Robo Trees 🤖🤖🤖

A new evidence review asks what speed limits should be if we started with the goal of reducing death and injury. Safe to say that despite being rooted in evidence, there'll be a lot of motivated reasoning trying to make these conclusions go away downloads.roadsafetyfoundation.org/Determining_...

"While larger supermarkets are accessible by car, the shop's closure is especially difficult for older residents and those without mobility," said another resident. www.waterford-news.ie/news/end-of-...

“Cruising through Paris, Rome” - fella, *nobody* cruises through Paris or Rome in *any* kind of car, and all you’re doing is showing the world you haven’t a notion about those cities.

Maybe boycott the singing competition platforming propaganda by a state committing an ongoing genocide, perhaps. A little proposal for the bare minimum. Something to consider.

Annoys me no end the worship of ballymaloe

Ftw lads It may smell like vomit when you apply it initially, but it does the job. I'm a bollocks for forgetting about the area above the jeans line when I need to cycle but not today, thankfully no red arse line

“Gaza is a killing field – and civilians are in an endless death loop.” - President Michael D. Higgins www.irishtimes.com/history/2025...

On the subject of 🚲 permeability, is anyone on friendly terms with a journalist who might be interested in participating in an active travel experiment? The experiment being to compare the utility of walking versus cycling on a number of carefully selected routes through the centre of Galway City?

Other bookshops selling online need to get their names out there. Vibes & Scribes, O'Mahony's etc. #Speirgorm

When we began roasting coffee 7 years ago we started by giving 1% of all we earn to Women's Aid. Last year this rose to over 3.5% and this year I'm hopeful it may hit 4%. This isn't charity or marketing. It's just a different business model to others which I hope means more people in the chain win.

The population in Gaza is being subjected to "forced starvation" where hunger is being used as "an instrument of war", President Michael D Higgins tells the National Famine Commemoration in Kilmallock, Co Limerick.

The Government teaching us all that arson works. Remember last year when the the far right goons protested outside Simon Harris' house and within a few days he was going in tougher than ever on immigrants? Amazing what they are willing to show us works

Here’s a nice hopscotch court. Camogie training by stealth. The school street has all kinds of knock-on positives. #SráidScoile

Impressive numbers parked up here

Some awful looking sunburn out there 😬

This should really be posted by Iarnród Éireann on Bluesky - additional trains to/from Cork on match day Sunday 25 May. #Speirgorm

Sunday chill out set at Cortado on the Marina ☀️☕️🎧

Latest Samsung update has absolutely ruined the battery life on my phone 😭

I still read about this case/incident and think if this didn't jolt the Gardai into action about road safety nothing would Mother jailed for five years after severing garda's foot in near fatal hit-and-run www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/moth...

Cracking evening (yesterday )for a trip up to Blackrock Castle

As I cuddle in my children this weekend my heart is sore for the parents in Gaza who cannot feed their babies, toddlers & children due to the Israeli blockade of supplies. I am so frustrated at political leaders across the EU doing nothing to stop it. Shame on us all.

There's the rain now

The new Samsung update is not getting off to the best start

Active Travel have put together a very useful map of all the cycle lanes built and planned. Here we can see the missing link between the O'Connell street cycle lanes and the start of the Canal Path to UL. Closing this gap would be one of the biggest and easiest wins for cycling in the city
