There's 55 canadians in ICE custody right now, nobody knows who or where, plus one just died in custody. We need Canada to insist on sending these people back asap.

Does this mean Atheist parents can opt out their kids of reading basically any classic literature? Because that stuff is full of references and illusions to God, the Bible, etc. Full of priests & churches! Nuns!Sorry kids, no Shakespeare, Dickens, or Hugo.

I bet sea-level (coastline) changes have made it 1000x more difficult to find evidence of these earliest of migrations!

When I was in Uni 20+ yrs ago, we were talking about 'island-hopping' being the first wave. Iirc underwater archeologists were starting to find 12000+ yr old artifacts in coastal waters of BC, bc of the sea-level changes. Looks like more's been done since then- cool! triquet.hakai.org

Relatedly, if you haven't been in an archives you have no idea just how much historical material is not online, not even a digital record of it. An LLM cannot research data it doesn't have. It can't even extrapolate where to find that material.

There was one in the UK, with the chant: "What do we want?" "EVIDENCE BASED POLICY" "When do we want it?" "AFTER PEER REVIEW!"

This would be great. I'd love not to have to always wade through the US *waves arms wildly*

The problem w/ informing the public that there weren't any 'good ol' days' is that the past can't now be used to excuse sexism, racism, homophobia, unfettered capitalism etc. Without knowledge that yes, the past was pretty shitty for a lot of folks, there's no impetus for change & to do better today

20+ yrs ago, the first site I worked at (in Can.) we couldn't tell the public the last generation heir was gay, or that his brother died by suicide after ww1 bc of ptsd. It didn't fit the narrative-

thanks for posting this- appreciate it. I hoped for better from him, this is just gross. No mention of what they've done to Palestinians or that they literally kidnapped humanitarians today. jfc

Women have always worked. This is the rise of women being 'allowed' to work in skilled careers that were previously only available to men, & where they could make enough money to support themselves. Pre-1970s,women were teachers, cleaning ladies, telephone operators, secretaries, bank clerks, nurses

My kids are teens(!) and have never known cable/network tv at home. Going to grandma's is an adventure- sometimes, there's just nothing you wanna watch on, kiddo πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ (The absolute trash my bro & I used to watch in the summer when there was nothing good on 😭 so many infomercials & bad talk shows)

omg, I wish! I was so sick, I just wanted it to be over so I could eat food again, and not feel like death. I think tv/media usually paints a pretty rosy picture that influences a lot of uninformed folks.

And.. morning sickness is a total misnomer, you can be extra blessed with all-day sickness for the entirety of the pregnancy, which can lead to lengthy hospitalization, and life-long health problems too.
