Please buy, boost, bless and believe in The Curae anthology when the prescription (book) is filled (published).

The #Curae prize does not require submissions to be about care, although mine is, but I am looking forward to reading work forged in care’s crucible - work that has been shaped, tempered, and deepened by our shared experience.
Thanks for creating something for us, @bookwormvaught.bsky.social

My piece,
"Metamorphosis" is about my son’s deep phobia of fluttery things, but it also about love, caring and attention. It is about realising that growth and change is possible for both of us, and making space for that as we construct our futures.

Can I pick an album? Radiohead’s “Kid A”. The haunting glitchiness of it did something to my brain.

If you have publishing industry contacts, perhaps consider re-posting this thread in the hope that they might reach out to #curae prize founder, the ever-supportive @bookwormvaught.bsky.social

The Curae prize is a wonderful, rare opportunity for a group of writers who face considerable challenges in coming to their vital creative work and developing their careers. It would be a crying shame if the prize fell by the wayside.

This is despite the fact that:
- we are disproportionately women,
- caring can limit paid work, career progression and income,
- carers often experience stress, burnout and poor health outcomes,
- racial minorities are more likely to provide unpaid care.

This seems to fit with a wider lack of interest in the hardships faced by unpaid carers. We face distinct challenges that intersect with other diverse groups but are often excluded from mainstream diversity and inclusion initiatives.

@betarish.bsky.social Would you consider re-posting @bookwormvaught.bsky.social call out? Thank you.

But when you’ve been writing in a void? Who knows? My opinion of my writing vacillates wildly between “I concede this might be decent” and “this is dog poo” so, clearly, I cannot be trusted.

Was catching up on some episodes and misread the title of this one as “Unknown Language - Time, Memory, And Holly Valance”, and just accepted it.

My favourite piece of CNF. Really opened up the genre to me and showed me what it could be.

Yes! A great creative nonfiction book. Not something I would ordinarily have gravitated towards, but thought it was very well done. Let me know what you think!

I’m planning on reading it when the kids are back at school/home ed (and a looming deadline for my masters has passed). I read and enjoyed Funder’s “Stasiland” a few months ago, so feel I am nicely teed up for some related fiction. Shame you didn’t get to read something new.

I was very happy with myself when I got the blue line and that just about outweighed my disdain for whatever was going on with the purple line.

Ready for a v. specific brief?!
3 players, a game which will appeal to:
- a young teen who likes challenge but doesn’t have the attention span for complicated set up/loads of rules
- a v. competitive adult & skilled game player who wins at everything &
- a deeply uncompetitive adult who likes fun.

My almost-13 year old made me a coffee for the first time, and with no prompt. It feels like a weirdly big milestone!
