Among other reasons to be glad for tonight’s result we apparently don’t have to treat betting markets like The Needle due to “it was the first indication that gave us that sinking feeling” PTSD.

I visited NYC today for reasons not related to the election, unintentionally coinciding with the election, and it took maybe two minutes from exiting the train station before someone asked if I wanted an election pin. I said no thanks but I regret it, it would've been a fun little keepsake.

A straight man wearing a 10 shirt will become known as a huge dating red flag

Last night Diego Luna gave a heartfelt speech about immigration and LA and what Trump gets wrong about it. Starts at 3:00 in this video and it’s worth your listen. youtu.be/7726WoO7mTM?...

I’m sure they planned and recorded this a while ago and the timing is coincidental but lol

We risked a war and torched any hope of a long-term diplomatic solution and raised the possibility of terrorist and cyber-attack reprisals and raised the risk of oil price shenanigans and violated the constitution and screwed key EU allies, all for… a few months. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/24/u...

I spoke to @mrsambarlow.bsky.social on Her Story's 10th anniversary. We discussed how his grandmothers shaped the game, whether he'd make a sequel, and why a popular interpretation of the story makes him uncomfortable (the "true" narrative remains a mystery). www.gamespot.com/articles/a-d...

Americans watching Trump risk a major war with Iran so he can play “peacemaker” because he’s jealous of Obama’s Nobel prize

For a long time Pixar was (accurately) criticized for having a house style of rendering humans that was pretty dull, like a default avatar model in a video game. Turning Red, Luca, and Elio all show a distinct new house style, which is good, but I’d like more variety instead of just a new normal.

So basically Trump agreed to Israel’s bunker buster plan in exchange for claiming mission accomplished and a ceasefire immediately after so that he can try to win a Nobel peace prize. It seems almost too stupid to be true and yet

Here's me on Batman: Arkham Knight 10 years later, and why it isn't just the best superhero game ever made, it's the gold standard for the final act in a video game trilogy: www.gamespot.com/articles/10-...

Sometimes on very hot days I step outside and wonder to myself oh man how did people in ye olden tymes live like this and then I remember ah right a lot of them didn't

Samuel did a great job with this one, give it a read. Personally I only know Deus Ex from the later games but this was a really fascinating warts-and-all look at where the franchise started.

NYTimes has a long history of holding conservatives—including its paid columnists, like Stephens here—to absolutely no standards whatsoever, but still worth noting the complete lack of ethics required to not mention how 99.99% of Iran's uranium stockpile was due to Trump withdrawing from JCPOA.

We use the Common Sense ratings and usually I think they're spot-on but the age 6+ recommendation for Elio felt off. Lots of kinda creepy alien imagery and visual references to space horror. Even if it subverts it a half-second later, it's creepy at the time. (The movie itself was pretty good.)

Jamelle is incredibly good at breaking down complex topics so if you find yourself needing to explain in the coming days that no, the war powers resolution doesn’t work that way—as all of us will probably have to—this thread is a great primer.

It’s not simply doing this, or doing it without congressional approval, or doing it without explanation of risks, or doing it without declaration of war, or doing it on behalf of an ally mid-genocide. It’s the fickleness that suggests what’s to come. Rule, war, death by his whim.

I found my original Pokemon Blue cartridge and plugged it into my Analogue Pocket, and miraculously all of my pokeymans from 1996 or whatever are still in there. I have to imagine the cartridge is going to go bad and lose them soon. Are they just stranded and awaiting the reaper?

Accidentally read my trade paperback of Saga #11 before I read #10 and I’m so used to that series just throwing new information at you in media res I didn’t even notice anything was amiss.

honestly this was very predictable if you could a) accurately recall the political consequences of the 2020 protests and b) take public opinion as it actually existed in 2025. impossible difficulty for a non-trivial portion of the professional political commentary class

In Animal Crossing on N64 (2001) you could play the NES version of Balloon Fight (1984). So if Nintendo released a new Animal Crossing today, it would be like finding a copy of Mario Kart Wii inside of it.

I spearhead our anniversary coverage so part of my job is tracking dates that are important for gamers and I’m sorry, mea culpa everyone, I totally overlooked this milestone www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/d...

When you’ve finished the Hearthstone Battlegrounds season pass, you should still get new quests and they should reward gold like the regular season pass, especially since they’re both paid

This is the most obvious “maybe if I stall long enough it will just take care of itself” Homer Simpson shit imaginable and NYT is like ah yes masterful gambit sir

There are no distractions. It's all bad. Systematically stripping trans people of their rights, guys in balaclavas shoving any brown person with a tattoo into a ummarked vans, ending healthcare for millions. It's all in service of fascism and technofeudalism. It's all one thing. That's the point.

This is especially vital for Vance who as far as I can tell thinks his official job as Vice President of the United States is just trolling the libs
