Appears to be a Wolf spider. Males are smaller than females (females can get to 4"). Great insect killer. They bite if threatened. Venom is not toxic to humans, but can be deadly to cats/dogs.
Acrobatic when hunting and can jump to avoid capture.
Some people make pets out of them.
