Thank you - this is excellent info. Australian sheep farmers only rarely provide shelter in paddocks for their flocks, causing great suffering for animals in heatwaves. Solar panels are a potential godsend for farmers, and for their animals - as well as insects.

I didn't see that movie. Extraordinarily long title.

The president of Ukraine expresses great empathy. It's starkly apparent that neither the president of the US nor the president of Russia have this precious characteristic: empathy. Just so very sad.

I wonder if Putin will choose the day of Trump's big military parade. It would be a sick kind of one-upmanship, and further intimidate Trump.

The article mentions government buildings or intelligence headquarters but I find it hard to believe that Russia hasn't gone for these targets before.

For their beak health - gotta chew. They're wonderful, raucous, curious birds, quite big. But if you're planning to launch a rocket, well ... I'm surprised there wasn't a note about cockies in the rocket manual.
I'm actually more surprised Australia is launching a rocket. Since when?

Because - why not? Why wouldn't he? It fosters the 'us and them' sentiment that has served him so well. This is so incredibly alarming to witness, from the other side of the world.

Lovely folk, reminds me of the Londoner LGBT support for striking Welsh miners depicted in the movie, Pride. Happy Pride month ππ₯ π³οΈβππΊπ¦

They were identified by Russia, probably only a matter of time. Ukraine said when it revealed the attacks that all operatives were safely out of Russia.

They were identified by Russia, not revealed by Ukraine.

If the tenor of Musk's comments shifts on X, then the algorithm may also shift, to become less pro Russia - and more pro Ukraine.

Convicted rapist with a rapist's attitude - well, she shouldn't have led me on / shouldn't have mouthed off at me / shouldn't have given me a reason. Even after years of abusing someone, the aggressor will still seek to blame the victim.

She's being facetious. She's lived and volunteered in Ukraine for years and knows exactly what's going on. Unfortunately her dad is one of many blockages to adequate US support for Ukraine, although to give him credit, he has at least visited the country.

Look, you absolutely could be right. But he's from SΓ©nΓ©gal, probably not a native Russian speaker, who signed up to work in the kitchens while a student in Russia, where I doubt there is any discussion at all of Russian war crimes. So to say 'he knew' might be a stretch.

Yes, could be. I was thinking of Fiona Hill's recent take on Putin, that it's fear.

Yes, seems like a thoughtful guy. People make mistakes, get coerced, get manipulated, or threatened. I don't think it's as simple as 'fuck you, you knew what you were doing'. He's 25 years old, and boy, when I think of the idiotic things I did and thought when I was 25 ...

It really looks like Ukraine is being left to carry the can, at least for the next year or so, while Europe struggles to accumulate its own defences. The US meanwhile is one giant weenie - the biggest military in the world and scared of Putin. We're all shaking our heads in disbelief and shame.

I wonder if Ukraine knew about this. The trigger has been assumed to be the negotiations but perhaps they had inside info.
