Being a skeptic scientifically is a good thing. That means you look at the data with a critical eye and make determinations based on the best available evidence once it has held up to scrutiny. It does not mean doubting the evidence and taking an oppositional stance because of that.

I can’t tell you how much this pisses me off!

I miss the days when we used italics to emphasize a word instead of all caps.

Great article with lots of perspectives from scientists who are scared to speak out — and other scientists who are scared of what will happen if they don't. Trump & Musk & Kennedy are devastating U.S. research and setting progress back decades www.science.org/content/arti... on @science.org

Happy Mother’s Day to the feisty science moms out there. You’re brilliant! You balance and manage SO MUCH. You bring excellence, creativity, innovation, and humanity to the world. If I hadn’t seen others having families AND doing science, I wouldn’t have realized I could do it, too. Thank you ❤️

The ability to read a scientific article does not guarantee the ability to understand a scientific article.

Okay Behavioral Econ friends: what is your favorite article on probability discounting for a lay audience?

The cuts "would kill the much-anticipated Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, an observatory seen as on par with [Hubble & JWST] that is already fully assembled and on budget for a launch in two years." Would also apparently close NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Huge, HUGE loss for science.

Science does not work like this. The only way you can set a timeline is if you have rigged the results in advance.

RFK Jr: "By September we will know what has caused the autism epidemic and we will be able to eliminate those exposures."

Last week we received the devastating news that Hannah Cole's F31 grant was terminated due to the focus on improving alcohol treatment efficacy for gender diverse folks. Hannah is an outstanding student & and this outcome is deeply unjust. Her letter to our TN senator is below:

This morning I caught the Reveille to this sunrise. ✨

We already do…?

I heard someone say Pi is their favorite number and that feels greedy to me. You don’t need that many digits. You're not gonna eat all that.

“Extinction Burst” as applied to MAGA. This is worth the two minutes of your time. Trust me on this one… (Part I)

Can’t believe I’m typing this but… FUCK IT IM PLANNING A STAND UP FOR SCIENCE PROTEST IN DC. If you want to be involved, be dm me. I’m nervous, I’ve never done this before, but we gotta be the change we want to see in the world.

🚨JOB ALERT🚨 The Emory Psychological Center is on the hunt for a post-doc! This would be a clinical position (focus on assessment) with opportunities for research. faculty-emory.icims.com/jobs/141226/...

In case you ever felt the need to obtain a p value from a confidence interval: www.bmj.com/content/343/... And in case you're wondering: I just used this on a manuscript and of course it came out at something like p = .038, lol.

My occasional reminder to folks on tenure and promotion committees that there will be a cohort of people whose early careers were defined entirely by the pandemic and *waves vaguely* this nonsense, and it *will* impact their productivity. It can't not.

So disappointing to have an article rejected after 7 months waiting for 1st round of reviews, with only 1 review given, and then to have the primary reason for rejection be lack of fit with the journal. Editors, if you don't think the article is a fit, please desk reject and save us all time!

The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH** * Currently paused by Executive Order ** Grant reviews now all canceled www.kcur.org/news/2025-01...

I love those ResearchGate alerts asking “did this author publish this paper?” Well yes, ResearchGate, I don’t have reason to believe they didn’t.

What in the actual F?!?

I grabbed one of these DIY book nooks and I’m in love. Someone stop me from doing a village!

Just had a bird fly into my house. It took my husband and I corralling it with a broom and blanket to get it back outside. What a wild experience.

This is going to be a banger conference.
