Anyways Kinda interesting how one little change or character addition can completely reinvent another character and make more 3 dimensional as a person

Followed by her verbally destroying the new bully. Just a montage of insults in English, Spanish, and dog barking. A little montage like Captain Holt's "BOOOOOOONE?!" Rant from Brooklyn 99

"Here I was trying to be a better person or some shit, and be more peaceful... CLEARLY that creates a power vacuum, so DON'T EXPECT ME TO DO THAT EVER AGAIN"

There's absolutely a plot where someone knocks Vee down a peg or two, making everyone think she's gone soft compared to her Queen Bitch Forever days... But then the new bully messes with Lucy, and Vee dials it back to 11 on them for the win.

Vee is still a bitch, still queen of her domain, and will absolutely crush someone verbally (Especially the cheerleaders. She hates them) But both in character and IRL, Lucy cracked her shell. That vixen made the character WORK.

Now we're developing specific interactions between the crew and Vee Reasons they interact outside of the group. And honestly, Vee became so much more fun to plot and write after that.

And Vee's motivation for Mean Girl went from lashing out over abandonment/parental issues to Ego/Pride. And THOSE reasons become a lot easier to temper and make entertaining. She went from Full Debbie to later seasons Cordelia An antagonistic ally.

But with that also lead to the Vandelle's not only being brought back home, but given names and histories beyond "Rich assholes." They became Mark and Lilith Vandelle, their stories developed to give a reason they'd take Lucy in at all.

The joke of Lucy living in the Vandelle's pool house as an exchange student lead to a total reworking of ideas. If the gang is always hanging out with her at the pool house, Vee has a reason to be a nuisance. IT'S HER HOME after all.

But the problem became that she'd rarely have a reason to pursue just THEM. Why would she ever frequent places they hung out? Enter @lenoratheyinglet.bsky.social's Lucy. Lucy's presence changed EVERYTHING in how writing Venus was done.

She was originally designed as The Bitch. The mean girl bully at Summertown High. Often living alone in her family mansion as her parents were busy and rarely ever home. She'd be the antagonist to "The Gang" causing them problems frequently.

In retrospect, might have been a "fuck you" t-shirt as no kid could ever get away with wearing that slogan on their clothes without questions

I remember the letter writing campaign to get the show renewed. Kids WB sent folks a free T-shirt. White with the Road Rovers logo on the front And in big black brush stroke lettering on the back, "BITE ME"

me half asleep: "haha, these are good choices." Me IMMEDIATELY snapping full awake: "HOLY SHOES, THAT'S ROAD ROVERS. WHAT" That show as an absolute jam for me as a kid. Got canceled for working the phrase "Sonovavitch" into a musical segment and none of the network folks caught it until it aired 😆

www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCT2... The best one, IMHO, is still the first one, where I discuss how a 1980s Lassie continuation turned Timmy's mom Ruth Martin into a retroactively abusive parent.

AND YOU CAN FIND ALL OF TALKING DOG THEATER OVER HERE www.youtube.com/playlist?lis... As it's the only one of those 4 credits that's still available anywhere! :D See how I turned that into a shameless plug for my own content? Yeah, I'm horrible.
