What Starmer and Labour have yet to figure out is that it's all very well having a 10-15 year grand plan for setting Britain to rights, but not if you do stuff that makes you so unpopular in the meantime that you only get 5 years in power.

I wonder what happened in 2016? …another picture to save to your phone and share everywhere.

The whole “OMG Farage might be PM tomorrow”-thing is getting out of hand. It’s damaging to every single party except his.

Hey y'all, My wonderful, unbelievably strong mom has been fighting stage 4 cancer since 2015. It recently returned and my sister, who she's now living with, started this GoFundMe to help with daily expenses and making her apartment handicapped-friendly. If you can help in any way, it'd mean a lot.

Her stats line up with CDC data…

Going to keep saying it - the Farage effect is largely an illusion. Many, many more people loathe him than like him.

The Lib Dem leader wants to rewrite British politics – not with the language of crisis, but that of care. In a Westminster hooked on “tough choices” and resistant to compassion in policy, he offers something rare – moral clarity rooted in lived experience. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I was in one of these lines.

Lithuania's defence minister Šakalienė: "Our nation can call itself free because have never accepted the chains of occupation as our sealed fate. Today standing united with our German allies, we declare once again: Our enemies of the past did not break us, our enemies of the future do not scare us."

You have won the election, UK Labour, you have the top job. Now do something with it. Stop staring at Reform and letting them dictate your agenda. Govern, for God's sake, and do what you believe it, what voters wanted when they put you in power.

Net migration halving in the past year isn't a victory, it's a loss. It's a demonstration of how the UK has become poorer, more hostile, more unfriendly and prejudiced. There's absolutely nothing to celebrate about it.

NEW: Net migration to the UK has nearly halved- fallen from 860,000 in the year ending December 2023 to 431,000 in the year ending December 2024. Still historically high and started under the previous govt. But expect to hear “we’ve halved net migration” from the words of every minister every day.

Morning Bluesky. The UK’s net migration has halved, one of the sharpest drops in years. Big fall in the number of people coming to the UK to work and study, big rise in people leaving the UK.

German Defense Minister Pistorius commenting on Trump: "I believe that he (Trump) overestimated his negotiating position, his personal power. Trump's first major mistake was right at the beginning, when he promised that Ukraine wouldn't join NATO and even offered Ukrainian territory."

Keir Starmer will do anything to distract people from his rent boy scandal (labour only listens to people like this so might as well run with it)

So... excited about the Brexit reset? It looks like the thinnest of gruel, with most of the small gains punted into longer term discussions. And yet it is being treated as a betrayal of apocalyptic proportions by the RW media, and by Reform and Tory politicians. They'll dine out on it for years.

In some ways the UK fishing industry was symbolic of the insanity of Brexit. It’s an industry that relies on European markets, on European labour and on European cooperation, but imagines itself in a nostalgic world of the 50s, independent and buccaneering.

RESULT: Nicusor Dan, the centrist mayor of Bucarest, will be the next president of Romania. A big loss for the far-right: its candidate George Simion got 41% in round one, but didn’t grow enough, & turnout surging worked against him. Simion is down 54.3% to 45.7% with 96% reporting.

Since Brexit, we have all lost the freedom to live, work, study and travel without restrictions in 27 European countries. Young people now face barriers where their parents had opportunities. The UK-EU summit on Monday is the Government's opportunity to undo this damage.
