If anyone has got it to work and keen to share some sneaky tips, this wannabe mechanic would be immeasurably pleased.

Wait, wrong movie. Oooooo this will be my Friday night I fear. I'm off to research.
To be fair to myself there is a Merc chase scene in this movie, but they're w123's.

Okay this will sound weird, but there is a John Belushi movie called K9 that features a chase scene with a bunch of black w124's; it was that scene that sent me on my 124 Mercedes obsession - I'm scared to re-watch it, in case it's shit. I was about 8, so it likely was pretty shit. :)

s124 is somewhat of a dream car to me.

I wanted one of these sooooooo bad. Wound up back in Volvo territory though, as regrettably I couldn't find "the right one" on the used car market. I test drove two and both had been trashed :(

I think they got a lot right with the design, the front proportions and stance is aggressive yet still friendly. I found the seating position of Falcons to be too tall for my liking, I always felt like I was up too high or the seating was too "sensible" when I preferred to be in gokart mode

My Grandfather had one of these in '88(?), it had a digital speedometer which to an 8 year old was a wiiiiild bit of tech. I got to sit in the front passenger seat and felt like a million bucks. Also, I've never noticed the squished read doors before, now I can't un-see it 😅

I never really noticed it before, but the Taurus is strikingly similar to the EL Ford Falcon that was built and sold in Australia. Makes sense that it is, but never really noticed it.

Thank you, I needed this today! I can't do everything, just my best.

If it's on GM, probably snaps in two.

I really need to learn my hashtags. I honestly thought gutters referred to roof drainage. Thank goodness it doesn't, just quietly.

That's crazy! Why bother buying something like this if it can't even clear a speed-hump!?

Same - the only place I've ever watched a TikTok video is on Youtube Shorts hahahaha

But I was born in '80. I'll move on now.

There's never been a more suitable looking adventure vehicle. It looks like it could drive up a lighthouse!

We hired one on a recent trip to Uluru in Australia's Northern Territory, and it was the perfect car for the job. So tough and simple (but so cute!).

Yeah I thought close encounters was shit, too. So glad I'm not the only one who isn't blindly blowing smoke up Spielberg's arse. 😂

I followed back only because your opening line was an absolute beauty and I can't wait to see what comes next - especially given that I'm the first follower of a dubious profile. Playing with fire! Living on the edge!

This is a tough choice! I would lean toward the 850 because of it's simplicity and collectability. While the v70 is more powerful, I always found the 850 more raw and "fun". It's tighter, less bulky, and handles oh so well. Both are easy enough to work on, and neither would be a disappointment!

Lost Highway messed me up big time. I got to the end and was kinda angry that it was over. But couldn't stop thinking about it, so about a week later I watched again with a different mindset. For a second there, I understood. And that's why I love it so much.

I watched Elephant Man at school in 1994 and even at 14 found it deeply, deeply moving. Lo-Fi art in motion, and an incredible character study. I think about it all the time.
But also, every morning for the last 20 years I've asked my wife if she wants a "cup o' Joe" so of course Twin Peaks too ;)

I think Australia had pretty heavy import duties on imported cars back in the 70s and 80s, so that made buying (and selling) these cars pretty expensive. I assume that (and how small our population is) is why we missed out on so many cool euro cars!

Thats the one! In hindsight it looks much different than I remember it looking! My neighbour had one of these in the 80s - he was always working on it. In a working-class Australian suburb this was a rare site, as back then it was all about muscle cars, big v8s and the like.

Now this one looks familiar! In Australia this was the Holden Piazza and is now quite rare (especially given it was a flop).
It also looks a lot like a Mitsubishi that was sold as the "Starion" in Australia, although I don't know if they had anything to do with each other - might just be similarity

I've never seen one of these before (I don't believe they were sold in my country), but man they look awesome. Got that super cool VW/Audi style that is somehow boxy but sleek at the same time.
