The first movie I ever watched on the Criterion Channel. Still dunno why I chose it, but it was very, very good.

What a tremendous movie that is. It's one I always mention when folks want recommendations for what to watch on the Criterion Channel.

It's being remade by the guy who did The Raid movies. I dunno if that's good news or bad. cityonfire.com/yakuza-a-col...

You watch one or two movies a month and it’s three same cost, or less, than going to a movie theater. And it’s worth every cent.

I liked it well enough, but I despise Chalamet so much it was hard.

I really want to see Joint Security Area, but don't know if I'll find the time.

Oh my gosh! Go watch that as soon as possible. I always recommend it to newbies to the channel, calling it bruising and beautiful.

I really think A Serious Man is the best Cohen brothers film. The other two you got are great also.

You're welcome. Enjoy the channel, and I hope if you can afford it, you subscribe when your month is up. The yearly subscription fee is among the best money I've spent on myself.

Criterion recs:
A Man Escaped, the best prison break movie.
Cold Water, which I watched a 2nd time the day after I first saw it.
The Passion of Joan of Arc, one of the best movies ever made.
Ali: Fear Eats the Soul, which is bruising and beautiful.
Pale Flower, a deeply nihilistic Japanese noir.

Sadly, in NYC the library dropped Kanopy because NYers used the hell out of it and it cost too much. Same thing for the Brooklyn Public Library. So I'm hoping Killer of Sheep does stream on the Criterion Channel sooner rather than later. It's a fantastic movie.

The channel listing for it said it's "Widely regarded as one of the greatest Vietnamese films ever made," which intrigued me enough to put it on my list. This helps me move it up a few notches on my list.

Hume Cronyn is deliciously evil in that.
