Makes sense. And yeah. I don't get it.

I can't see what you are replying to since I am blocked (I think).

Yeah they don't grasp the difference between luck and skill. Fooled by randomness etc.

The confident dweebs who think AI will make everything better seem to be the same ones that somehow imagine they are irreplaceable overlords with insight that could never be replicated... But their ideas all sound like poorly understood derivative bullshit from sci-fi written 60 years ago.

Hey AI - come up with a list of precise questions I should be thinking about in this situation. Hey AI overseeing agent, compare this list to the given information and decide which ones are most important. I'm just going to turn into a dried out useless husk filled with coffee in the corner.
comment in response to post
If you trust the AI model to do all of this without any oversight on your part, you can probably trust it to come up with a better "precise question" than you did. In which case, you bring literally nothing to the interaction. You cease to be relevant. Adios.

Yep. There is a lot to be said for his more personable individual relationship based coaching style. But I think they need more concrete X-O's system support types around him, because that isn't really his personal forte.

It's great at churning out low level, mind numbing BS that low level interns are assigned as busy work. If you think it's going to make you some sort of creative genius you are destined to look stupid.

And the most obviously defensively inclined coaches they have had KNOW this and let him cook because of how elite and skilled he is. They recognize him for what he is... A unique genius. Don't mess with that.
comment in response to post
AI is inherently not going to be able to do anything novel in regards to pattern recognition because every pattern it may seek out is based on patterns contained in its training set. It can't think about problems in creative or unique ways.

No actual questions, you already know what you want before you are given it. You aren't researching or discovering at this point. You are backfilling.

"think of precisely the information I need" This person has no clue about the amount of effort one needs to make sifting through *possibly* relevant pieces of information to develop true insight. You don't start with precise knowledge. This is a person who only grasps received wisdom.

Yeah missed the response

I don't think they are remotely upset or bothered. But the cost difference is explainable. The Leafs are very risk averse. Incessant theme that prevents them from making necessary moves.

I don't even know if it's him, but he does have a significant platform that leads to a lot of people sharing his very poor takes.

I have gotten two new washer/dryer sets down into my basement, but removal was basically impossible without disassembly/destruction of the old set.

This seems to be the point where defunding is necessary. If they answer to nobody then they shouldn't exist.

Also, FLA wasn't getting another year of Marchand at 50% retained.
comment in response to post
Kinda thinking Marchand told the Bruins he wanted to go to FLA only. Seems plausible.

It reads like Simmons.

You are very wrong on this. A lot of people are using it to do tasks they don't know how to do because it is cheaper and easier than hiring an expert. Students everywhere are using it to do their homework. It's the same exact thing, just for adults with real world consequences.

Just trust the machine always. What could go wrong?
comment in response to post
You are welcome.

The problem with McMann is he really wasnt given the opportunity to play in the slot that he is best suited to. He was excellent with Tavares and Nylander, and then they barely used it at the end of the year and playoffs.
comment in response to post
I mean, they have been trying to emulate what StL and FLA did/are doing and both are cup winning teams so this is clearly invalid lol.
comment in response to post
Agreed. I mean hell, you could just go back to Hobbes and the Leviathan, without adding in all the mythologizing they attempt.
comment in response to post
I mean. He still could be, but he vanished in the latter part of last year. I'm not tossing him aside at all. He retains value and is a useful piece.
comment in response to post
The players he got back for Tkachuk are positive value players largely aside from Huberdeau and anticipating his severe regression wasn't something that was widely expected anywhere that I'm aware of.
comment in response to post
Like people use the Tkachuk trade and the contracts that came out of it to criticize Treliving's track record, but that scenario was an obvious necessity that was largely forced by the situation they had. It was frankly the best option of a bunch of not great options.
comment in response to post
I do think he gets carried away with some ideas - leans into them more heavily than necessary - but literally every manager has their "thing" they pursue to a fault and some are more valuable than others.
comment in response to post
I mean, Treliving and the Leafs have literally had some of these players before. I don't think they misunderstand what good teams look like. I really don't get where the perspective that Treliving is a complete incompetent originates from. There really isn't much evidence to support it.
comment in response to post
I think some of this is by design by disingenuous actors trying to provide some sort of framework to legitimize an entirely intellectually illegitimate movement, but in the case of many adherents, they are just too ignorant or cracked to see their misinterpretations.
comment in response to post
Victor Oloffsson... Guys that don't need to be "sheltered" but can actually put the puck in the net.
comment in response to post
Maybe Mason Appleton or Anthony Beauvillier too.
comment in response to post
Should pursue guys like Jack Roslovic, Connor Brown, Andrew Mangiapane, Joel Kiviranta, Justin Brazeau etc.
comment in response to post
This is where letting Marner walk should allow them to recalibrate a bit with more balance.
comment in response to post
Yeah their problem is they have perennially filled in with cheap players there on league min deals and those guys are generally flawed one way or another. Usually either good D but no O or vice versa.
comment in response to post
Yeah people can't get past their biases. It's a problem.
comment in response to post
I mean, the alt-right make similarly bad readings and misunderstanding of their works a key part of their ethos. Sort of like how they incessantly adopt imagery and anthems that are explicitly opposed to them because they misunderstand them.
comment in response to post
Oh I agree that his stupid penalties and defending are massive issues. Insanely flawed piece. But they need another 1 or 2 guys who can produce like a legit middle 6 forward in the playoffs.
comment in response to post
Even if this were true... Compare Marner to his peers ON the Leafs and it's absurd. For his career he drops from a 28 goal 82 gp average in the regular season to 15 as a playoff scorer. Nylander goes from a career average of 31 per 82 gp regular season to 32 in the playoffs.
comment in response to post
Knies and Tavares are in there too... On mid tier deals they work in that role. But they need another 1 or 2 guys at that level.
comment in response to post
And yes I know your disdain for Domi.
