Happy 10th birthday, my sweet Hazel! You are my whole world, and I am so lucky to have you. We have made it through health crises, tornadoes, and grad school together. You are the strongest pup ever. I love you. 💜🎂🐾😘

In honor of Hazel’s birthday, 20% all purchases Friday-Sunday! 🎂

My afternoon while Hazel watches the neighborhood.

Some guy on Twitter made a point of announcing that thousands upon thousands of men are descended from rapists, and we women "aren't going to like it when [they] stop asking nicely." Which, you know, surprise surprise brother, but you're also not going to like it when we stop refusing nicely.

Going to take a little social media break beginning tomorrow. But I’m here today for Hazel’s birthday! She’s had first and second breakfast, naps, and some watermelon so far.

Today’s attire.

Every Harry Potter book or shirt you buy directly funds the persecution of trans people. There's absolutely no excuse to support anything Harry Potter anymore unless you hate trans people.

Hazel has decided to sleep in this morning. 💤

Okay…as a former HS teacher and now English Ed professor, I have some thoughts on the whole “do away with DE and AP courses” thing. I disagree. BUT they do need to be completely overhauled and align 100% with college level expectations.

Pedro Pascal proves that sometimes the most masculine thing to do is to be vocally and unflinchingly supportive of vulnerable people.

OK, hear me out. Pedro Pascal. Viola Davis. Much Ado About Nothing. Broadway. License to print money.

Some great pics! www.aol.com/37-vintage-p...

Proof of Hazel during grad school 2017-2019. Working hard with a snack nearby. 😂

Highly recommend if you’re in the area! #Shakespeare

So…about AI’s energy use… “…to create a five-second video, a newer AI model uses ‘about 3.4 million joules, more than 700 times the energy required to generate a high-quality image’. That's the equivalent of running a microwave for over an hour.”

At around 90% in and I still believe this is YA. I appreciate those commenting to give their thoughts! Might suggest reading through some of this (see link). Also, as friends know, I teach a YA Lit course. So i am familiar with the genre! 😁 www.ala.org/yalsa/guidel...

Hazel is also a big fan of Squishmallows, so…

I NEED THEM.

McDonald’s happy meals now come with a mini squishmallow. I need them all.

I just made a phone call I’ve been putting off AND sent a text I’ve been putting off (because ANXIETY). Please clap.

Dear writers of plus size/fat romance, I need ALL the Pedro Pascal inspired romances, please. 💜💜💜💜💜

Call your representatives to protest this proposed bill - especially if they’re from the GObshite Party!! They get guaranteed retirement & healthcare coverage, but want to take it away from everyday Americans apple.news/ATC525DICR0y...

Is it too harsh of me to say that you're not actually a writer if you use generative AI at any point in your process? There's no stage you need to use it for if you have the skills, craft, and understanding of the process. In fact, if you're actually a writer, it'll just slow you down.

At my university, a provost said that they didn't like having English department people on committees because we were constantly asking about context, comfortable with ambiguity, and generally able to point out flaws in logic.
