I don't expect Ketterling or the people who have made both-sides-need-to-calm-down their whole career to change; but the story is the violent radicalization of the american right driven by anti-abortion rhetoric in churches. that's the story. decades of domestic terrorism fueled by this rhetoric.

I think we all need to reckon with and prepare for the fact that a peaceful transfer of power is not going to happen. He has blatantly said, "we're gonna set this up so good that there probably won't even be an election in 2028."

A good time to repeat my unpopular opinion that every single US history class, from elementary school through high school, should start with Appomattox in 1865 & the Compromise of 1877 as the foundational events of the current Republic, & work backwards & forwards from there.

Remaining on X combines many of Dem electeds' worse traits:
An inability to recognize the stakes.
Cluelessness about technology.
Obsession with dubious metrics.
Complete disregard for base voters.
Blindly following the advice of soulless consultants.
