Every single person involved in this decision making process should be ostracized & blacklisted. What an astounding dereliction of duty and care for students

Am I surprised? No. My alma mater has a lot of skeletons in the closet (like most big institutions). This is why I always laugh when the right claims universities are these communist bastions. Beyond laughable.

Such a bad look, @umich.edu. cc: @barbmcquade.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

The bots on X are truly confused, which is fascinating to watch.

Abducting people at work sites - meaning they have jobs. Capturing them at court dates - meaning they're following the law. Blocking them from accessible higher education - meaning they're striving for more. And peddling lies about jobless, lawless, driftless.

Trump bans all foreign-national Harvard students and researchers from entering the US on student or foreign exchange visas. Shifts legal fight from one over State and DHS powers to presidential powers. Among those affected: the former prime minister of New Zealand and the crown princess of Belgium.

"A national network that pledges to coordinate, mobilize, and support one another when any single institution comes under attack..." www.standtogetherhighered.org

🚨🚨🚨 In the last two hours, the Trump admin: - Banned all immigrant visas from 19 countries, including Cuba, Haiti, and Venezuela - Banned all student and researcher visas to Harvard - Colluded with Texas to kick 20,000 undocumented college students off of in-state tuition.

Once again I am calling for Democrats to introduce legislation requiring standardized uniforms, visible badge numbers with names, as well as a requirement for ICE and DHS agents to present proof that there is enough danger present to be masked to a judge when they get their warrant.

Man comes to the US from Lebanon. Starts out delivering pizzas, becomes a Nobel winning neuroscientist. Trump freezes his funding, he gets an email from China offering to move his lab “any city, any university I want" with guaranteed funding for 20 years. What are we doing?

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka sues Alina Habba and DHS capo Ricky Patel for false arrest and malicious prosecution. Baraka separately sues Habba for state law defamation. While immunity doctrines will make this a difficult case, Habba's numerous false and malicious comments give it a chance of success.

Deglaciation in southwest Greenland reveals some secrets. Glacial retreat converts exposed landscapes from net carbon sinks to sources Retreating glaciers turn landscapes from carbon sinks into greenhouse gas sources, releasing CO₂ and CH₄ as soils develop. www.nature.com/articles/s43...

Elders.. on Shavuot.. peacefully protesting against the actions of the Netanyahu government. They were demonstrating for the sanctity of life. It’s sickening and devastating that anyone would commit such a despicable act. May they all recover.. May their families know they aren’t alone at this time

Can we please take a step back and ask how insane it is that one party nominated an acceptable candidate for president who lost and the other party nominated a felon whose family has made billions in the first 100 days, and somehow the question of the day is what is wrong with the Democratic Party?

What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules. It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.

Love seeing @nytimes.com swinging back at Elon Musk and defending our journalism against bad faith attacks.

if it takes years, has to be consequences for all these people, and even more for those who gave the orders.

NYT: “The episode was recorded by someone who was sitting in Mr. Nadler’s office. In the video, an officer with the Federal Protective Service, part of the Department of Homeland Security, is shown demanding access to a private area inside the office.” @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2025/05/31/n...

Actually, Elon Musk did explain, honestly and clearly, why he sought to run the DOGE "reform" operation.

International investment capital is moving from the US to Germany. If you had bought Germany’s DAX stock index at the trough in the autumn of 2022 you would now have doubled your money.

This didn’t work out well for Skadden.

🚨NEWS: The new top voting lawyer at the Department of Justice was until recently an attorney and activist for a leading anti-voting legal group that has worked for years to spread fear about illegal voting and press election officials to tighten voting rules. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Raskin: This is a gangster state. This is not basically a legitimate government that is sometimes doing corrupt things. This is an essentially corrupt enterprise. It's like watching The Sopranos. Every day, they get up and they try to figure out how to plunder and pillage the people

That's why Elon is departing. His work is done. It was never about fraud/waste, it was about your data.

Was it all just bullshit? The whole notion of $1 trillion in savings was never a real thing. It was a pretext for Elon Musk to burrow deep inside the Government and to take for himself exactly what he wanted: in information and in lucrative government contracts. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

The Memorial Day Message from the President of the United States of America, in memory of those who have given their lives defending America, the Constitution, and the freedoms that we Americans enjoy on this Memorial Day 2025.

So he raised the tariffs, paused that raise, paused that pause, then paused that pause of the pause. And no-one knows if it'll be paused again (and if such a pause will be unpaused) or what happens when (or if) the pause whose pause was paused concludes.

A review of Trump's personalized and intensely erratic conduct with respect to tariffs suggests that he's really interested in destabilizing markets and damaging the US economy—that more than anything else. This weekend, for instance, his tariffs lasted 18 hours. www.sueddeutsche.de/wirtschaft/z...

EVERY DEMOCRAT SHOULD BE SPEAKING THIS WAY IN EVERY PUBLIC COMMENT THEY MAKE

50,000 people are without power in the city of Nice in southern France after a second consecutive night of sabotage attacks against critical infrastructure.A day earlier, unknown actors attacked the energy infrastructure in Cannes. www.nice.fr/fr/

Literally millions of people attending college graduations this month--and possibly feeling good about it. Did any graduation speaker say, "They are coming for higher education, and it's up to all of us to stop them and stand up for teaching and learning for the common good!" Such missed opportunity

It’s hard to put into words just how comprehensively this bill is going to hurt public colleges and universities in Texas—especially UT.

The ascendancy of the Tim McVeigh wing of the GOP.

"Security committee members [of the Judicial Conference, a policymaking body for the federal judiciary] worried that Trump could order the marshals to stand down in retaliation for a decision that didn’t go his way." A real statement about the President in 2025. Why democracy is in grave danger.
