Same with Glasgow and ScotGov but without the need to wait until 2029

Health and Safety not gone anywhere near mad enough

Ryanair were one of the ones i was thinking off. They certainly used to block '/' but it's been a while since i tried so dunno if they still do
comment in response to post
The websites that specifically stop you from entering a '/' in the address field are the worst. Sometimes i resort to substituting a '-' but often i just cancel my order and shop elsewhere. I'm not supporting blatant anti-weegie discrimination like that

who else have you used local? I ordred from good coffee cartel last time and liked them. And Thomson's have some nice stuff and are pretty affordable. But I'm always happy to try new places and spread my coffee twat custom around

8pm the bbc is claiming it might start to rain in Glasgow. I don't think i've ever been so excited to see a black cloud with one raindrop on their forecast. Might run down the middle of sauchiehall street squealing with glee

The hotel building in the bottom left of the picture looks so much better without the cheap and ugly extension that has been stuck on its front

Almost a full week of the delightful scent of eau de bucky piss until the forecast rain next friday

i wish i hadn't put that comma in "worse, and worse". It looks stupid

I wonder if the Herald would even consider publishing him if he just rocked up out the blue, pitching this stuff? I get the feeling it's just because he's been there so long, getting steadily worse, and worse, and it's a boiling the frog type situation Though, to be clear, he was never not an arse

All the investment funds were moved to student accom developments instead and then everyone started moaning that no-one builds anything but student accom. Though the Housing Committee just voted to add student accom to the controls so maybe they'll kill a 2nd sector with massive shortages stone dead

In the last couple years since the scottish greens got their rent controls moving through Holyrood, Glasgow CC have approved around 3000 new rental flats in and around the city centre and not a single one has started construction. Seriously, not one.

Ayrshire (or parts of it at least) is very much marketed as 'Burns Country'

lol. someone will be getting paid to come up with this stuff

Like this - stick a sneaky "fury" into the website headline that isn't there when you click through the article and get the real, more measured, headline
comment in response to post
no im sure they do it on purpose
comment in response to post
it doesn't reflect particularly well on them
comment in response to post
When you click through it doesn't say scottish in the article headline itself. I think they just deliberately try to clickbait-ify the headlines on social media and the website. I've noticed it several times with Herald articles where the website/social media headline has been "tweaked" like that

Ah ok. That's not as insane as i was starting to fear. I was worried they were only polling people over... 26/27 now, i guess... who could answer how they voted
comment in response to post
and do they just not include anyone who was too young to have voted in 2014?
comment in response to post
What does weighing the samples to 2014 actually involve? Making sure that 55% of your sample say they voted no in 2014 and 45% say yes?

Odds it was one of his Glasgow Labour comrades that went to the police due to some incomprehensible but utterly vicious inter-party squabble?

how do you even find the time to eat shawarma and watch St Johnstone lose?

i picked it up for 99p in a steam sale but havent gotten round to actually playing it. Are you saying i should?

too big to park, more likely to seriously hurt anyone you hit, higher carbon emissions, and cause more damage & wear to the roads. They really are Sociopath Utility Vehicles. The negative public impacts for personal comfort/prestige/whatever totally justify taxing the pricks til they cry

was enjoying listening to a bit of 6 Music while having my lunch and then some guy suddenly popped up and totally killed the vibe by talking about tariffs

Stephen Flynn could do himself a big favour by telling Stephen Flynn's pals to stfu. Every anonymous quote from one of them you ever read makes them sound like utter dks

Convenience, reliability etc matter more and unless there is new money (which i doubt) taking funds from investment programmes like fleet modernisation, station upgrades, new bus lanes that will improve the system, and using it to subsidise tickets instead, aren't going to help with that
comment in response to post
Other cities have tried making public transport free and the results are never great. Dunno why GCC think it might be differnt here. Like in Tallinn, car use and congestion are higher now than before they started free pub transport. Cause price isn't the main consideration for most using their car

Have you watched High Potential (with her from It's Always Sunny...) on Disney+ ? I think it gives off Monk vibes

I really like my Kobo. My preference is still to walk into town to Waterstones but if im travelling or whatever then i'll stick something on it instead. I think it's the "Clara" i have. Just the b&w one

This photo of the junction bustling with life is one of the more infuriating pre-motorway pictures

It's the cynicism of it that gets me. I don't believe for a second that they really believe the Scottish NHS's issues are due to a bloated management/admin layer. They just think it'll sound good to a section of target voters so they've gone with it anyway. It's desperation stuff

Though the very last stretch before Charing X - from about Elmbank St - does get pretty bad again

The street is long past its nadir and has been on an upswing for a while. The pedestrianised bit with all the unwanted big retail units to deal with still has a way to go, but the ABC is the only major blight on the western part - all the empty places there have been slowly filling up

whereas, it feels like being a semi-professional juror living in Glasgow sometimes

One time they cited me twice while i was exempt for 2 years due to previous attendance and then within 6 months of the exemption finishing, they cited me again. But you talk to pals that live in Lanarkshire etc and lots of them have never had so much as a single letter, let alone actually attend
comment in response to post
When it comes to the high court is it just Glasgow residents that get cited or do people from the likes of Motherwell or Coatbridge or Ayrshire or wherever get picked too since it's the closest High Court to them?

A good news day yesterday for empty listed city centre buildings with both this and the Lighthouse proposals
comment in response to post
They got planning permission to put a flue up the back of the building so it could be used as a restaurant. Hopefully someone buys it to do that with it. Not sure what else it could get used for
