I spent $80 on a new desk…should have done it 6 months ago.

Why not version GUIs the same way we do APIs? They are both interfaces and contracts. Why does one get an entirely different approach to versioning than the other?

Watching The Godfather II and seeing Vito and his wife as a young couple starting their family in that tiny little apartment…makes me remember just how spoiled I am.

Funniest part of taking my kid to football equipment checkout is listening to the dads call the moms to ask them if there was anything they needed for it 🤣

How do you tell people that what you want from your career is to make enough money to not have one ever again? 🤣

The level of pressure that exists right now to use ā€œleverage AIā€ is wild. It’s like the new magic fix-it-all tool that uninformed and low-effort people are reaching for.

Here is something I think about a lot that often sets me free from worry and overthinking…in 30 years 99% of everything that seems important now won’t be. Perspective is OP.

That is mind blowing

ā€œBreathe and allow things to pass.ā€ -Warren Buffett Practice it everyday.

Happy Father’s Day! If you are one I hope it’s awesome and if you have a good one make sure you tell them the same thing.

I lost two hours today because the remote PC I was working on was set to pacific time zone. When I got up from my chair at 4pm it suddenly became 6pm. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Confidence is important. If you don’t believe you can do something or you don’t believe you’re worthy of something. Why should anybody else?

I think my least favorite part about the Internet is the people who seem to just live to dunk on what others are creating. Why not root for them and get busy creating something of your own?

A nice feature request for YouTube…if a channel is uploading a large # of videos provide an option to not flood subscribers’ feeds 🤣 I mean I love all the content just don’t necessarily need every single video to be in my feed. Maybe like a stacked tile showing recently uploaded for a channel.

So excited for this: kenburns.com/films/the-am...

Summertime is when I miss playing football the most. It’s not even the games that I really miss. It’s the camaraderie and shared struggle with a bunch of other human beings pursuing a common goal. Like I miss the week of two days more than I miss the Friday night lights. ļæ¼

How did we ever write C# before collection expressions existed? Like they should have been there the whole time, right?

Quitting a job to work full time on something that doesn’t yet pay you is wild to me. Albeit I’m a fairly risk-adverse individual, but seems like it’d be more strategic to look at your job as a funding source for the other thing.

The Accountant 2 is one of those rare cases where it might be better than the first movie.

Most of the financial decisions I make are solving for peace in my house. So far I’m happy with the outcomes that has brought.

Crazy how easy it is to setup a basic amount of observability into any .NET app you build just the OTEL SDK and Seq.

ā€œLike I’m both dumber and smarter at the same time.ā€ Such an accurate description of the experience 🤣

I'll bet you can never guess what happened here šŸ˜…šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Don't you just hate cert issues šŸ˜…

This story is wild: pca.st/episode/4424...

I’m not an ageist, but I am a realist. The median age of a congress member is 57 years old and I just don’t believe on a day to day basis many of them relate to or share the same concerns that I have as a 32 year old father of 2 under 10.

Hard for me to understand the negative attitude people have towards getting a job. It sucks and it is challenging, but the fact of the matter is what other choice do you have but to keep trying. Might as well then be enthusiastic and unreasonably optimistic because the alternative approach sucks.

If you build .NET apps and like to host them using containers it can be a little bit of a chore to make sure you've got all the correct environment variables set based on your appsettings.json files, but I just stumbled across this helpful tool: github.com/dassump/dotn...

The minute housing became a speculative asset prioritizing affordability went right out the window.

As a dad, it’s really scary to me how many people have such strong opinions about the way in which my kids should live their life and what their life should be like in the future. It makes me feel obligated to have an equally strong opinion and make sure that I offer it as a counter to other’s.

"Nearly a quarter of consumers using buy now, pay later loans finance groceries, up from 14 percent a year ago, according to a recent LendingTree survey." If this doesn't speak to the times not sure what else does. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/02/b...

I got a computer with 64gb of RAM...now I want 128...does this ever end? 🤣

Wasted 2 hours of my life with a phantom Bluetooth connectivity issue on a new computer. Just awesome. šŸ˜…

The idea of a personal brand is actually a really good way of framing how to manage your professional life. It’s not about being an influencer, but rather being intentional about who knows about you and what they know about you.

The API for working with dates .NET is so much better than what exists for JS/TS.

It's crazy just how fast out of date technology education gets. It's another good reason why one of the best ways to learn is to actually be building all the time. Keeps you relevant.

There is this line from a song by Blue October that I think about most days. "We asked God to remove our fear & direct our attention as to what He would have us to be." Good reminder not to get so caught up in your day-to-day struggles and pursuits. That there is a larger vision for our lives.

The minute you have to do any sort of serious refactoring in a C# code base you begin to realize why Visual Studio is so OP. Moving project references, changing namespaces, etc. is pretty monotonous using the CLI and a text editor.

For the last time peanut butter is not "a good source of protein."

Had one of those classic programming experiences today…everything was working…except the URL in the documentation was wrong…but thanks to stack overflow I stumbled upon the right one. 🤣
