I saw a screening of it at UCLA many years ago and Friedkin was there for a Q&A after. Someone asked: "Why L.A.?" Friedkin replied (paraphrasing heavily) "L.A. is a perfect setting for a movie about counterfeiters, every waiter is an actor, every gas station attendant a screenwriter".

To add some more context, the are not "mobile specific" layouts, they are great on a big monitor as well, but they are also so easy to consume on a smaller, portrait screen.

what we get is a pretty decisive null result -- portland and gresham look identical. I've also broken out district 1 precincts from the rest of portland, because I'd expect those to be more demographically similar to gresham
