Husband, photographer, fisherman. Perhaps most important my dog thinks I am an ok guy. The best times are when my wife and I are out in the world making images.

The Two “sample copies “ of Susan’s book arrived today. It’s stunning.

Even when the target is birds, its often not birds that I shoot. This windblown sand sculpture caught my eye when I was walking the beach seeking Snowy Plover. #oregoncoast #wind #intimatescene #closeup #om1 #omsystem

It's pupping season again. I love it when I run across one of these little cuties. They do need their space, though. Please view and photograph from a distance if you see one. #harborseal #harborsealpup #oregonislands #nationalwildliferefuge #wildlifephotography #omsystem #om1

While it appears that this Western Sandpiper is landing, he is actually trying to stabilize himself. The wind was blowing a bit hard and he almost fell off the rock :-) #shorebird #westernsandpiper #birdphotography #migration #oregoncoast #oregonislandsnwr #bandon #om1 #omsystem

Boy can that Whimbrel run... He walked between two Black Oystercatchers and the male did not appreciate it. It was but a moment before it was decided who would be heading to a new beach. #oregoncoast #bandon #birdphotography #bird #shorebird #om1 #omsystem

What a fun week it has been. Migration is always a joy. Let's end it with a Black Bellied Plover winging past. I hope your week has flown by and you have a wonderful weekend ahead. #shorebird #birdphotography #migration #oregoncoast #bandon #omsystem #om1

Home, for this little Snowy Plover it is a sand blown beach that would fit well in a sci fi movie. I lay in the sand for a brief time trying to get an image and then rise with relief to be out of the sand zone. This guy is tougher than I. :-) #snowyplover #birdphotography #oregoncoast #omsystem

How Low can you go? This Pelican flew along the beach strait toward me. I did not notice until I was processing the image that it's passing was drawing up a little water that touched it's belly. Now that's some low flying. #birdinflight #migration #bandonoregon #birdphotography #om1 #omsystem

Sometimes you have to get your backside a little sandy! No, that's not me. It's my lovely wife working a flock of shorebirds as they took a break from their trip north. #birdphotography #bandonoregon #oregoncoast #oregonlife #shorebird #migration #om1 #omsystem

A lot of birds have been heading north. It makes for a lot of fun just sitting on the beach and letting them come to me. #oregoncoast #migratioon #pelican #bandon #birdingoregon #birdphotography #omsystem #om1

One from a couple weeks ago. Howling dog rock on a big wave day. The big waves mean that the surf pushes in a long way. It can take some people by surprise but it also means soft water can run for a lot of the beach. #bandon #seascape #b&w #omsystem #OM1

Wandering around in a garden shop, I could not resist the color. With no camera, I had to pull out the cell phone.

Rough waters. #stormwatching #oregoncoast #blackandwhite #omsystem #om1

Another one for national women's month. May our future generations of women grow up as the warriors they need to be. May the future advance so that they don't need to be. #nationalwomensmonth #future #alborada #sanmigueldeallende #streetphotography #om1 #omsystem

Native Dancers at the #Alborada celebration were fun to watch and the dance seemed to bring them great joy. It was low light and I had to shoot at ISO 6400 to even get 1/60 second but the image stabilization of the #omsystem made it possible. #streetphotography #om1 #sanmiguel #nativedance

Are words needed? Do our images speak for themselves, or do we need to add a poetic statement to give added value? #bird #hoodedmerganser #bestbirdphotography

One from the archives - As I drove past this same location this morning I observed two Hooded Merganser swimming about. Perhaps it is time to spend a little more time there. #hoodedmerganser #bestbirdphotography #bird #bandonoregon #omsystems #om1

They are the little birds that run back and forth on the beach, little daredevils taunting the next incoming wave with their search for a tasty morsel and then running back up the beach. The #Sanderling is a common bird along the #oregoncoast. #bestbirdphotography #bird #shorebird #omsystem #om1

A very foggy morning provided a change of pace for Susan and I. With the help of OM's live ND filters I was able to get this soft water image. The beach in Bandon never disappoints. #bandon #oregoncoast #seascape #fog #weather #longexposure #omsystem #om1.

A Hermit Thrush that has just figured out that I am pointing a camera at it. :-) #hermitthrush #oregonbirds #bestbirdphotography #birds #omsystem #om1

Occasionally, when photographing a subject, it will move to where there is some trash in the frame. Do you keep shooting? Do you remove the trash in post? Do you leave it in? For me it depends on what my final use is. #litter #trash #bestbirdphotography #birds #merganser #omsystem #om1 #environment

It was blowing so hard yesterday that this Sanderling had to lean into the wind as it scurried up the beach. #bestbirdphotography #bird #sanderling #shorebird #bandonoregon #oregoncoast #wind #weather #omsystem #om1

Here is one of my little buddy, Charlie. we spent a bit of time on the beach this morning as we do most mornings. Today, however, had winds oof 40mph with gusts going well beyond that. When I stopped to shoot he would curl up against me on the downwind side. :-) #wind #dog #weather #omsystem #om1

At times like this, it is hard to remember that rainbows exist. I hope we can find some soon. #palouse #rainbow #storm #toughtimes #greengrass

Couldn’t be prouder of my sister.
