We were given two weeks to complete a revision (including over the winter holidays). We asked for a one week extension, which was granted. We have now waited 5 months to hear back on that revision because one of the reviewers dropped out and they cannot find another one. Sigh.

Oh, I have such fond memories of the 24 hours I spent there with a group of students. Amazing food and scenery. Got a sausage from a place in a doorway in like an alley, still think about it 6 years later. Snowed like a foot overnight and woke up to a magical winter wonderland.

My wife and I are on path to early retirement and we cannot wait. You could not pay me to be a teenager again. Jokes on them!

I already commented in the thread, but feel the same way. A lot of times, my first question is simply "is this thing even possible?" Without that knowledge, I wouldn't even know where to start with any other reference.

Just to be clear, all the cleaning is happening in R, not in the LLM. We used a team meeting transcript that is in a similar format (these are auto transcripts from HIPAA compliant Zoom) to develop the R code. But the actual data will stay on local machines, just like they would have before.

I just figured out that we could use R to clean interview transcripts and then how to do it. It took 10 minutes with chatGPT. Prior to that, the manual process was taking maybe an hour per transcript. Without LLM would never have been able to figure it out, huge time saver!

Did the same recently. Even after 20 years, nothing triggers avoidance in me like those emails. A week later, I have read nearly all the comments!

I prefer the soft open. "I need your help with a SQL project."

I was like "oh, so few meetings today, I will be productive." Eight hours later, I am ready to get started on my to do list...

I posted online a couple years ago that we should normalize people not having kids and someone that I know responded "Yes, but there are some really profound economic implications lurking on the horizon if many people take your advice." Like, dude...

Yesterday I made coconut brown butter cookies and my 'niece' and 'nephew' (my cousin's kids) absolutely loved them and they love me and I love them. Time with them is such a joy.

Interesting and important work!

This is one of my favorite small talk questions: "What is a niche topic that you could give an impromptu 30 minute speech on?" I have learned so much about people from this question!

Paper Planes by M.I.A. I do not need shotgun blasts in my songs, thank you very much.

I just did the same! I have not bought eggs in a month. Paid $5.99 and gave them their own special spot on the floor all tucked in.

I believe the point is that even with expertise, different researchers are going to make different analytical decisions. These series of studies show that those analytical decisions, any one of which may seems minor and/or defensible, can have a huge impact on the findings.

That would be cool! Could go to the Driftless area and do 4 5ks in 3 states if you wanted to be extra about it! :)

Try 43 new foods? Or maybe a combo of 43 new foods/places/experiences?
