I actually had to go find matching grants and tuition breaks through my school to make it all work but without it my life would be radically different.

They gave me something like $3000 so I could go learn about microscopy and computer vision at Harvard Med for a semester.
Literally changed my whole life trajectory while using as little money as possible.
