Northland, known for its environmental programs, had been suffering from declining enrollment and declining financial support for years, and its closure was all but certain before Trump 2.0. I am hoping this will be an outlier, but now Trump 2.0 brings a whole new level of challenges/threats.

Tom (“Tim”) Brown in my law firm was the inspiration for Dave Frischberg’s “My Attorney Bernie.” (Within my family we’ve written lots of songs about each other, but I suppose that doesn’t count,)

Of course, keep them up.

As Crocs go, those are eye-catching in a good way.

You and me both. I joined Costco a couple of months ago (mostly for things other than food), and no Target so far in 2025.

PS. There was a place there where there was live music. Heard Rio Nido there, for example, more than once, also 1983 or 1984.

Here are three possibilities: Winfield Potter’s, Taiga, and Guadalaharry’s.

What happened to Gringolet Books, for God’s sake?

I think I forgot about that too. Used to be a go to for me after I started living on my own circa 1984 and before that with my parents. If portrait still there, worth a visit for sure.

The brats/sauerkraut/German potato salad combination always works well for people on a budget who don’t want to splurge on the Weinerschnitzel.

Deplorable.

<anguished screaming> I very, very much prefer extremely traditional nigiri. Rice. Fish. Wood. Happy sauce on side. Sad sauce on request. And that's all. The joint where you order omakase and discover just how skilled the knife truly is.

Yes, closed. If you were here now, you’d probably go to Billy Sushi. Hope you had a good feast.

Thanks for letting me know. My sister and I had a blast at the first one a couple three years back.

I always got the same thing at Chez B but can’t quite remember what. Black beans with meat. And Un Deux Trois! I went there for lunch with a friend and ordered a scrumptious soft shell crab sandwich special, and friend told me he was never going to talk to Republicans again. W was President.

Those two I remember well!

Hard to remember (or even believe) there was a Mac and Dons in Gavidae Common.

Lasting memory: After our last class in our first year of law school at NYU in the spring of 1982, as the professor was walking out (after applause, which was a tradition), someone had a boombox and clicked “on” and this was the song.

I supported him because he centered the arts in his campaign. I found that so refreshing.

I once visited a client who was in the isolation unit there and it seemed very outdated/chaotic then, and that was in the 1990s.

I read all the Carolyn Haywood books back in the day. Hope you enjoy it.

Leon Trotsky’s house and Frida Kahlo’s house, maybe not hidden but both gems.

Steve Brandt is here in Ward 7, the land of high earners. My hope for him is that he has the courage to deliver his usual message about a small income tax on high earners to ease the city's property tax burden.

Not a requirement. In a mobile population/country, lifelong Minneapolitans are becoming rarer and rarer. We do not have a monopoly on good ideas or ability to bring people together.

Happy birthday. I’m hitting the big 6-7 in a couple of days. May is the best month to have a birthday. Plus spring sprang yesterday in a big way.

I still can’t believe you are talking about caucuses. Conventions are the long ones, not caucuses.

Fistfights is not what I thought you were talking about. That is like a plane crash in terms of probabilities/risks.
