Beautiful lighting, particularly the second image and a good pose too.

Great detail Steve. I just saw one too but it was cloudy and lacks that sparkle.

I still have almost a foot of snow left in a low shady spot where I piled my snow in the winter....

I suspect that is what it takes to keep them away from the nest so the chicks survive, kind of like what humans do to protect their kids from bears and the like.

Nice shot. Poor bird, that must be tiring keeping all the predators away... but then you can get the pic while they rest up. 😀

I was surprised the first time I saw a heron in a tree, didn't know they did that. Good timing on the takeoff.

Hooray for ducks! Colorful and fun to watch. Nice lighting too.

Around here there are nuthatches and chickadees that will come to your hand for seeds, otherwise that are rarely still.

Really like this one, side light and a great background.

I had a similar experience with the 150-600c except I bought it used... and it had a defective filter on the front which was costing a fair bit of sharpness too. Of course my lens will never be sharp at 600 but oh well. Still hoping to someday get a Nikon 600 f/4 or 800 f5.6.

That sure is a classic. I remember playing the original on PSX, good thing the remaster looks better.

That lens was sharp! Did you have to adjust for focus shift? I read about that being a problem with that lens but it may have been only on the first copies of the lens.

Definitely great detail, I can see the environment reflected in the eyes!

Good images of cute little birds. They look a lot like the black capped chickadee we have here in Canada. Do they act the same and are almost never still?

An interesting bird indeed, colorful and vocal. I was surprised to find some that stay here in Canada all year around.

A reference to a certain square...

It sure does, and 800mm means I really have to concentrate on holding technique, even with a monopod.
