I am just going to summarise my point and leave it there - Arresting two people can improve relations between the two countries.
It hasn't happened in over two decades. Somehow it was easier to arrest Imran Khan despite his popularity. I wish everyone who wants peace demands their arrest.

And like I said, you can't have a joint investigation with someone who is actively shielding your suspects. Pakistan denied involvement in Mumbai attacks until Kasab was caught alive & a Pakistani news channel traced his family. LeT still functions. Worth asking why is it so difficult to arrest them

When you say I’m “assuming”, you’re implying there's no real basis for suspecting cross-border groups. But that would mean dismissing all existing evidence - including nationality of attackers, weapons used, patterns we've seen before - as fake. That’s not neutral, that’s denial.

I don't think Hafiz Saeed or Masood Azhar should be anyone's hero. Calling them terrorists isn't really disputable, considering open admissions and scale of attacks linked to their groups. That's why I said arresting them would have been the first step towards building trust.

There have been several joint investigations in the past, including for the 2008 Mumbai attacks. All unsuccessful, no arrests. Even if it's impossible to dismantle all active groups, arresting JeM and the LeT chiefs, as a symbolic gesture for peace could have been a huge step.

Absolutely, there's never an excuse for civilian deaths. No civilian should have died in Pakistan, or in India. Both sides lost dozens of people including kids.
The idea of a joint investigation looks good on paper but that's where we need to get into the history. (Contd.)

Is there any evidence? Yes. Is it convincing enough for Pakistan to agree to having a role, I don't think so. As always it's not black and white but I would highly recommend watching the interview.

I'm noticing that many people in the international climate community are unaware of Pakistan's support for terrorism. And how this terrorism has been used as state policy not only against India but also within Pakistan. Remembered this old interview by Mehdi Hasan

Yes, especially in the western gen Z tiktok/instagram space.
Very unfortunate how polarised and lazy the analysis has been. It's like no one can see beyond the western political divide.

Or rather she didn't mince her words in explaining what the reason behind the sudden turn could be. Trump has dragged India and US relations back by over a decade

His earlier statement about having brokered ceasefire was already causing problems. India said the discussions were bilateral.
Trump also said he will help resolve the Kashmir issue going on for "thousands" of years. India never likes external interference on Kashmir.

Many are reading it as if we were on the verge of a nuclear attack from Pakistan. There are already reports of nuclear facility damage and this just adds fuel to fire.
He said he told both countries the US won't trade with them. India says trade didn’t figure at all.

I think for south asia it will take a long time. People migrated to threads but it still lacks South Asian journalists. They will migrate when their entire network does including their hundreds of thousands of followers.
By the way, this could be an addition to your list

My point is that it's not about Trump Or how much effort Trump put in it, it's that we finally have a ceasefire. If the US managed to bring India and Pakistan on the table, it's a win.

Yes that's the challenge. I tried making a starter pack for India news months ago but hardly a few accounts are active here. This is the reason why journalists aren't moving here despite X being full of misinformation

For now India and Pakistan have both separately announced that they have agreed to the ceasefire. We have seen three nights of drone exchanges here and dozens are dead. It's a big relief that tonight is at least going to be safer, I will call that a win.
