I don’t know why this documentary hasn’t been shown on the BBC, and neither does Michael Walker, but I suspect it doesn’t come up to the BBC’s impartiality guidelines. It is a public service broadcaster, and unlike Novara Media it can’t broadcast straight up propaganda.

I have no patience with the idea that that the Jews have a god given right to the land, but neither do I have patience with the idea that because Palestinians lived on a piece of land in the past, it gives them rights over the current inhabitants. Most didn’t even have a tenancy agreement.

It wasn’t Palestinian Land, it was Ottoman Land, and they lost it to the Allies when they decided to support the Kaiser in WWI. Palestine was a name given to Judea by the Romans to make it sound less Jewish.

Trump is doing this because he wants to be seen as a strong man, and he will drop Netanyahu on a whim, as he has done Musk,

I am aware of this circulating. It is another variation on the myth of the manipulative Jew. I am not a particular fan of Netanyahu, but since when has anyone been able to persuade Trump to do anything he didn’t want.

I will defend Israel’s right to protect itself, and I abhor the Iranian regime. I also believe that the conflict in the Middle East has gone on too long, & with no possibility of a peace agreement on the horizon, war is the only option. However, I don’t have confidence in Trump to execute this war.

Yes, we are critical, but tolerate Saudi Arabia’s human rights violations, because we are allies, as they tolerate our way of life. Iran does not, it has a mission to impose its Islamic Ideology on us.

Had uti possidentis juris been followed (as it was with all the other LoN Mandates) the whole of Mandatory Palestine, and its waters would have been part of Isreal. I am not a lawyer, but I do know, equal application, is one of its central tenets.
comment in response to

In Israel regards the waters as its own, and it has a case. The presenter mentions customary law. So far the UN has totally ignored the customary law of uti possidentis juris, which provides that newly independent states should retain the internal borders of their preceding dependent area.

Why would Israel allow profits from gas to go to Gaza when we know Hamas would use it to buy bombs to kill Israelis? If Israel already pocketing the profits from these minerals, then why bother going to war over it. It doesn’t change the fact that Iran have made it their mission to destroy Israel.

In South Africa, The white minority exploited the black majority for economic reasons, which is not so in Gaza. Israel exercises strict control over Gaza, because they can’t trust Hamas not to murder them in their beds. If you think Gaza resembles a prison camp, you have your reason there.

The SAP had complete control of the Bantustans. Whereas Hamas is able to fire rockets into Israel from Gaza. Israel is entitled to control their border, and blockade their enemies. Gaza cannot have their freedom at the expense of Israelis safety.

The 20% of Israelis who are Arabs have the same rights as Jews. There weren’t a group of blacks in South Africa who had the same rights as Whites. The dire conditions in Gaza are not imposed by Israel, but by Hamas who chose to spend the billions in aid they receive on weapons.

Israel is not faultless, but the use of these words is designed to provoke an emotional response, and has nothing to do with the truth. These people care nothing about the people of Gaza or Iran, they want to create more division.

I am saying there is more than one perspective. There are enough people demonising Israel without me joining in. What is it about Iran that you defend, the fact that they execute homosexuals, stone women for adultery, take tourists hostage, finance terrorism, or threaten Israel’s existence?

How many Jewish Supreme Court Justices are there in Iran? I am not denying that there is racism in Israel, as there is in every society, but Arabs are represented in every profession, and throughout government.

Netanyahu, has, with good reason, sought regime change in Iran for decades. Oil has never been a motivation. The theories expressed in this article are just that, whereas Ayatollah Khamenei has been open about his desire to the destroy Israel and to export Iran’s Islamist Revolution.

I have no idea what Trump’s motives are re Iran, and Mike Flynn is the real life rendition of Brig. Gen. Jack Ripper in Dr Stranglove. “Geopolitical Economy” is known for spreading left wing conspiracy theories. Trump is not a reliable partner for Israel, or any other country.

Israel have targeted military sites in Iran, which begs the question why Israel would target schools, and hospitals, in Gaza, and not Iran. The answer of course, is that Hamas hide within the population of Gaza, and use schools, and hospitals for military purposes.

She won’t do that. She is the worst kind of opportunist. If she’d had any integrity she’d have realised that she was totally out of her depth, and not taken the job in the first place,

I totally associate her with totalitarian dictators. It’s not dissimilar to his lock down rhetoric, there comes a time when reality kicks in, and you have to listen to the expert’s, and that is not Tulsi Gabbard.

I can respect the views of the pro Palestinian activists, but when it comes to defending this terrible regime, and its proxies, that is plain evil. Perhaps you would reflect on the experiences of the 66 Westerners who have been held hostage (often for years), in Iran before you next comment.

You are very naive. Iran have funded Hamas, Hezbollah, & the Houthis for years. The world fears Iran having nuclear weapons. That is why the UN Security Council voted unanimously (incl.China and Russia & Venezuela) in favour of Resolution 2231, to restrict Iran’s development of Nuclear weapons.

Iran haven’t stopped firing rockets into Israel for decades. So enough of this nonsense.

Iran could avoid all this by recognising Israel’s right to exist, and by stopping threatening to destroy them. Simple really.

Tulsi Gabbard was one of the most shocking of Trump’s nominations. She has no relevant experience, and is known for her pro Putin, Syria, Iran stance. She is rumoured to have been on the CIA watchlist. She is the last person I would believe.

Don’t believe me. Iran has set a deadline of 9 September 2040. There is a clock in Felestin Square, counting down to the date when Iran will destroy Israel.

Iran bombed an Israeli Hospital. Israel bombed Hamas military bases, used as hospitals. Israel developed a nuclear bomb to defend itself against an existential threat. Iran is developing a nuclear bomb to implement that threat.

The overriding responsibility of a government is to protect its citizen’s, not to look after its enemy. That is the responsibility of their government, Hamas, and they are not doing that by hanging onto control until the bitter end.

Oh, come on, the number of Hamas apologists we are seeing is repugnant. We saw them a couple of days ago outside the Kneecap trial. We saw them celebrating Oct 7th, & Iran’s recent strikes on Israel.

Hope he remembers to say that Hamas could have stopped this war in the first few weeks by returning the hostages, and relinquished control. Also that Egypt and the surrounding countries have been complicit in not allowing refugees.

I think Israel would say it is THE Jewish State, but I get your point 20% of the population are Arabs. Incidentally, none of the people who call Israel a “colonial enterprise” mention that Jews have only ever asked for a single tiny state. They aren’t looking for an empire.

What is your proposal for compensating the hundreds of thousands of Jews who were expelled, and had their property confiscated, from Arab lands around the same time?

Do you think any country in the world would agree to an influx of people that would completely change their demographics? The inhabitants of Palestine didn’t. They persuaded the the Mandatery government to put severe restrictions on immigration in the 1930’s.
comment in response to

If is was just the original inhabitants, it might be possible, but Hamas’ red line is the right of return for at the millions of descendants of the Nakba. That’s a round about way of saying we want the destruction of the Jewish state, because it would wipe out the Jewish majority.

You are right, Israel aren’t victims anymore. When Jews are threatened they don’t wait and hope it won’t happen. Been there, done that, and 6 million were exterminated.

Israel is no threat to us. If you think Iran can be trusted try taking a holiday there. Craig, and Lindsay Foreman ignored foreign office warnings , because they thought that the risks were overblown, and it backfired on them. They are still in detention in Iran.

3) Don’t be as stupid as they were. Israel did not make the first strike. Their proxies have attacked Israel every day since 7 October 2023, and there was a shadow war before that. It is an understatement to say Iran is making threats to Israel; it is the policy of the government to destroy Israel.

2) British Motorcyclists, Craig & Lindsay Foreman chose to ignore the warnings of their friends, family, & foreign office advice, not to travel to Iran. The videos they posted on Social Media before they were detained show how incredibly naive they were. youtu.be/nKpwSxHwy64?...

1) It is you spreading the propaganda,Mehdi. For anyone who thinks Iran can be trusted, & is the victim, you might want to acquaint yourself with the case of Craig & Lindsay Foreman, who are being held hostage in Iran. There have been 66 foreign nationals held hostage in Iran since 2010.

You allude to some evidence, but don’t go into full details about it. You can be arrested based on a reasonable suspicion that a crime had occurred, so you don’t appear to have a case.

Wayne Cousens is a rapist. You were arrested because of a complaint made against you, questioned, and it appears released without charge. You may have been uncomfortable, and anxious, but from what you said the police treated you well. A little perspective is needed.

It is not a matter of being docile, or blind obedience, but unless we are living alone on a desert Island we are part of a society. We decide collectively on who makes the laws we live by when we vote. We might not like those laws, but we are obliged to follow them in exchange for their protection.
