Currently keeping close watch on this newly-emerged damselfly so the House Sparrows don’t take it. We can’t be by the pond 24/7 to guard the emerging odonata and annoyingly the Sparrows just pick them off, one by one. I know it’s Nature and there’ll be baby Sparrows to feed but still…☹️.

This baby Blue Tit was inside our conservatory earlier. It was calling and Polly managed to catch it when it came within reach. She held it whilst I video’d and commented, then we put it in a cardboard box for a rest. I peeped in, opened the box and BBT just flew into the trees by our back fence. 😊

My favourite photo of the weekend 🙂 I had gone to the sea to watch the waves and incoming weather, and my mum took this photo ☔️ #OuterHebrides

Fledging has begun! Suddenly there seems to be just one parent Blue Tit still bringing food to the nest box so this may have been the first to go and might be with the other parent. Sorry about the shaky video. Was just a few feet away with my phone. #BlueTits

Just been watching the Blue Tit chicks at the nestbox hole. Some time this weekend they’ll be off, I reckon. I also watched a Bumblebee clinging on to a leaf at the pond, having a long drink and totally unfazed by me a metre away. #BlueTits

Had my RSV vaccination just now. Even though I watched I didn’t feel the needle going in. It’s always the nurses who don’t rush who give pain-free jabs. Thank goodness for the #NHS.

I have come across a hitherto (for me) unknown word, and am trying to think how I can just casually use it in a sentence. Bombilate. It’s certainly the time of year for much bombilation. Hm.

My granddaughter is learning Spanish with Duolingo. I decided to start as well. I’ve been practicing rolling my r’s. Every time I do my dog rushes to me in obvious concern. Still, it’s better than yesterday when I was singing along to Elvis’ All Shook Up and she got up and stalked out of the room.

eight years ago today we all watched the glory of zendaya falling madly in love with tom holland and the internet was never the same

Can there be anything better than a good roll and back scratch on a sunny day? #Kinsey #CockerSpaniel

Sitting in the garden having lunch, Red Kite soaring overhead as we watch our Blue Tits busily to and fro to the nestbox. They haven’t found the live mealworms we put out twice a day but are bringing back caterpillars. We think the chicks hatched on Wednesday and our fingers are crossed for them. 🤞🏼

Some weeks ago @levparikian.bsky.social posted an observation on our waning tolerance of the Chiffchaff song as we progress through delight to being a bit fed up with the constant, unavoidable monotony. I’m close to the latter. Robins? Fine. Blackcaps? Lovely. BUT…I want the Blackbirds to reign.

Oh, such a thrill that I just never tire of seeing or hearing. We have #Spitfires over our house most days when the weather improves. This one was circling so I had three wonderful views. My father was one of The Few and classed as an Ace. He hated the job he had to do, but loved flying. #Sussex

Well done, Chelsea! 2024-25 WSL CHAMPIONS!!! #ChelseaWSL

When did people stop saying “floor” and say “ground” instead? They’re not the same thing. Floor=internal. Ground=external. And when did “basin” become “sink”? BATHROOM basin. KITCHEN sink. Never hear “kitchen basin”. “Can I get…?” instead of “May I have…?” We know you CAN, it’s whether you MAY.

Straight from my phone just now, ten minutes from home. #Nightingale #EastSussex

Does anyone else remember listening to Family Favourites on Sundays at lunchtime? Such an assortment of music played, but for some reason I just had “There’s a Hole in the Bucket” spring to mind. The Harry Belafonte/Odetta version, of course, which I’ve just listened to again. Absolute classic. ☺️

First Swifts of the year, over our East Sussex garden. At least five heading North, wheeling past a Red Kite that was Eastbound. AND…our first Large Red Damselflies egg-laying in the pond. I’ve had to move out of the sun into the shade. Summer is here, even if just for today. #Swift #Kinsey

The way he drifts!!

I’m going to be 75 soon. Just out of interest I searched Amazon for “Birthday presents for 75 year old woman”. No, I do not want a scented candle. Or a chakra healing crystal tree of life. Or slippers. Or a cushion with my name and birthday on it. Or an engraved crystal heart keepsake. *sigh* 🙄
