As a Philadelphian, I am honestly incredibly offended when somebody from Wyoming or Texas claims to be from “real America” like mfer my America is about 100 years older and “realer” than yours. America was born in my back yard you up-jumped provincials.

also a reminder that kent state did not involve an intentional order to fire on civilians, it involved poor training and incompetent on the ground leadership. and so if the claim is “the guard will fire on civilians if ordered,” you don’t even have an example with which to use!”

the fact that everyone’s example of “they’ll indiscriminately shoot peaceful protestors” is an event that happened 55 years ago and not any of the times since where the guard has been deployed during civil unrest should probably tell you something

i also frankly think a lot of you would do well to actually talk to anyone who serves in the guard or who is active duty military, because it's clear to me that these people are mostly an abstraction for you

You remind me of something posted by a BLM protester in Portland. The cops escalated in response to every step protesters took to keep themselves safe, yet the cops kept accusing the protesters of escalating things.

Bet those national guard members are just so stoked to be here rather than spending a lovely Sunday with their families
