...anyway, I need to be able to justify this as a business expense, so, umm, hey, I've got a livestream this Sunday! You should tune in! π

The larger (but still tiny) Ohano sopranino is still my favorite to play, and the Kala concert sounds better on mic and is my workhorse, but I'm glad to have this one at last.

I figured that either it would be everything I hoped for, or I'd turn out to be meh about it, but either way I could finally stop chasing it. π
It is so smol. Probably I should tune it a few steps up but it's honestly functional in C tuning?

(Definitely the iUke and the Ohana O'Nina. The Ohana sopranino and Kala travel soprano are debatable.)
Anyway. The pocket uke on eBay cost approximately the same amount I was getting refunded for the baritone, so under the principles of Girl Mathβ’ that meant it was practically free.

See, somewhere around a decade ago, I tried out a Kala pocket uke. I instantly loved it, but could not afford it. I put it back on its hook, wistfully.
Then Kala stopped making them.
Two to four of the ukuleles I've bought since were a direct result of my not getting the uke I REALLY wanted.

Shortly after sending that one back (and, alas, eating the cost of shipping in both directions), one of my eBay saved searches brought tidings of The One That Got Away.

I'm an indie folk/pop musician, and my debut album includes a song about my birthday being May 10th, so buying it would be thematically appropriate!
(That's track 3, "Five and Dime")

Yeah, that's an alternative. But I don't know that it'd actually work out any better?

(And also whether it makes any sense, given that I'd be covering the cost of shipping both ways.)

Am trying to decide whether it's okay to return a ukulele after you've already called it "the newest member of the family" on social media. π₯
