It’s not just elites though who support him. You have to be honest with yourself, America. Many people who are not wealthy are also quite happy to see deregulation and cutting programs because they think that the money will eventually end up in their hands. And they love that he’s a blatant racist.

It’s racism and xenophobia that bring those groups on board. People will overlook that a party is known to make cuts to their social benefits, healthcare, etc. as long as they are made to feel superior to the “others”. We have people like this in Canada too, who vote conservative, but not as many.

Yes, MAGA are totally ok with this because they are racist pigs. I know some of my American in-laws who would balk at putting a dog through this torture, but they will turn a blind eye to something like this. But we “can’t discuss politics” because it isn’t polite or pleasant. 🙄
