There is a difference between self-selecting a book and being forced to listen to a sad excerpt at a school board meeting.

Four of my school board members want to go to another SBAE conference in June. Board members wanting to go: Joyce, Carney, Blount, and Ricardo. It’s on page 612 of Tuesday’s agenda: duvalcosb.portal.civicclerk.com/event/2971/f...

Do you agree? Charter School Financial Statements issued after HB 1259 (2023) took effect should have disclosed the relationship between the lessor and the charter school.  If they didn’t, the financial statements should be resubmitted.

Forget all of the rhetoric about returning education to the states. The reason we need a federal voucher program is to get around Trump's own voters, especially the rurals with their *emotional* connections to local public schools

Does Senator Gaetz really not understand that 25% (plus one) of the parents of the students at the school could convert a neighborhood school to a charter school under his bill? Majority have to vote so that’s 50% plus one. Of those, 50% plus one have to vote yes. That is 50% of 50%.

Is this a typo? Should it say level 2? Excerpt: (line 832). Allows students’ scoring a level 3 or higher on state progress monitoring (FAST PM1 or PM2) to qualify for forth grade promotion. accountabaloney.com/senator-simo...

A Florida legislator introduced a bill, HB 123, that will make it easier for charter schools to take over public schools. I spoke out against it at a local school board meeting, telling parents and board members how it would harm our school district.

Here’s a little back story it: The charters pay almost $1.4 million in rent annually to Southwest Key. “This is public money they could turn into private money,” “And then they could use it for whatever they wanted.” www.nytimes.com/2019/03/15/u...

Agree. The legislators need to add an enforcement mechanism.

Florida needs to stop capital outlay funding to charter schools. We need neighborhood schools NOT charter schools.

DIA disputes the two valuations BUT my next question is about the last paragraph. Why do taxpayers have to subsidize projects for billionaires?

Duvalbill—Only read part so far BUT you think it’s a good deal for the city to trade property worth $10 million for property purchased last year for $4 million?

Self-dealing? Notice it says: The School has entered into a non-cancellable operating lease for use of its facility with a company that is owned by an officer of the School.

And here’s she’s saying other things she learned, but because I’ve read about SBAE I worry that they’re teaching them to manipulate the data. Thoughts?
