Archaeologists: "We're amazed!" Indigenous people: "Well, yeah." www.npr.org/2025/06/06/n...

Las lenguas representan, dan visibilidad, unen, hablan de sus hablantes, nos definen. Creo que no hace falta explicarlo cuando estás en el foco y representando a tu región en un foro. El fascismo lingüistico es... fascismo. Vivan todas nuestras lenguas. Todas.

Oohhh do I love this book! Written in support of having language rights added to the UN Rights for children, it is an informative & celebratory look at how languages are identity, heritage, & perspective. #edusky #langchat #UNHumanRights

nothing more concerning than work (with robust institutional support, no less) that focuses on the existence, proliferation and proficiency of a language while never... not once... centering the well-being of the *people* and *communities* who use the language.

Whether the teacher has a sub, the student is absent, someone calls in, we need to shift our mindset to the fact that we are PEOPLE, and life is for living. A Japanese study found paper-calendar users lit up memory-related brain regions and recalled details 25% faster than phone-calendar users. "notebook aided acquisition of rich encoding and/or spatial information, [was used] as retrieval clues, led to higher activations in specific brain regions."

I will die on the hill that children should know what the anatomical terms for their sexual organs are so they can properly tell a trusted adult when someone is doing something bad to them. A child can't tell their teacher that they're being molested if they don't know the name of their body parts!
