Preach, Faine

When Dobbs came down, the media rightly saw it as the culmination of a decades long effort to eliminate abortion rights by the conservative legal movement. When Skrmetti came down, the media blamed trans people and not that same conservative legal machine. It's the same court and lawyers.

I met my best friend in the bathroom at a club where she needed a tampon. This is how it works.

Here we go again. I'm watching cable news begin their annual hysteria over Social Security "running out" in 8 years. Apparently, the U.S. government would be incapable of writing checks to seniors if the "trust fund" runs out. We need that money for tax cuts and Presidential airplanes.

You can’t make this shit up

This little @brianstelter.bsky.social item bears on a pattern I see in my everyday reading Trump's doubters criticize the way The Media collaborates with him, even at this late date. What journalists hear is: "Wait, you want even more negative coverage?" Try: Not more negative. Less predictable.

You have to understand, these are not ICE detention centers, they’re just centers containing people ICE has detained.

TY @hamiltonnolan.bsky.social for saying it louder: The subway is not scary open.substack.com/pub/howthing...

These people aren’t afraid Mamdani would be a bad mayor. We have a ridiculous, corrupt, incompetent mayor right now and the city is hanging in OK. They’re declaring all-out war because they’re afraid Mamdani (or Lander) might be a good mayor.

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered. Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again. Their inaction is deadly.

The Trump administration is working with private companies like Palantir to create detailed reports on every American, which could help them weaponize our personal information in their quest to deport immigrants and punish critics. This is a huge threat to our constitutional rights.

denying them any deviancy to punish is the worst crime of all, which is why compliance is always punished just as harshly

Tina Smith Calls Out Mike Lee’s Rancid Social Media Posts talkingpointsmemo.com/morning-memo...

Trump is sending ICE to blue cities to enact the "largest mass deportation program in history" and Chicago is at the top of the list. I'm calling for every Democratic leader and candidate to stand against ICE, to call for its abolition, and to materially support immigrants. Inaction is complicity.

Man, there’ve been some big time Loser Reply Guy posts today.

A right-winger -- a registered Republican, a Trump voter, an evangelical anti-abortion activist -- assassinates a Democratic official. Republicans respond by blaming the left. Democrats respond by blaming ... no one.

“A deranged maniac impersonated a police officer and killed lawmakers but if you’re an immigrant be sure you immediately comply with plain clothes people who won’t identify themselves telling you to get in a van”, what a fuckin country

Honest question- With Bibi indebted to T47 the way he is, what drive him to start bombing Iran right before Trump’s special day? Was it driven by his own desires (chance to do more damage to Iran, chance to distract Israeli media from getting on to his corruption)? Or was it something against Trump?

Just so we're all clear: It's not a coincidence that the first senator they've used physical force against is Sen. Alex Padilla, a Latino man representing California.

Not taking anything away from Senator Padilla because he was treated atrociously But I JUST want to remind everyone that the Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, a Black woman, was just indicted for just asking questions at an ICE detention center in her state Keep that same energy of support for her

Possible to start to tell a unified story: "Trump is personally too old, crazy, and confused to run things, so at any given time the question is which co-president is in charge. At first it was Musk, & we got the crazy chaotic DOGE era. Then Navarro: a trade war that crashed markets. Now Miller..."

i’d be curious to know whether any of the journalists who have taken to bluesky had prior experience in an earlier internet age with forums. for me at least, my acculturation into the social internet was by way of forums and so the lack of an algorithm seems natural to me.

TIL that Diego Luna was a Zapatista??? BRO

I don't see literally anyone pointing out how often Republicans have used mob violence for their own ends, including swarming campaign vehicles and polling places during elections, going back to the Brooks Bros. Riot of 2000. Oh yeah, and Jan. 6, too. #uspol

the pundits whinging about bluesky are also just high-profile examples of "guy who had a biggish account on Twitter comes to a new website, doesn't attract the same following base with his predictable posts, and proceeds to insist that the problem isn't him, it's everybody else" it's just sad

"you don't want to come hang out with me at the shit cafe where people eat shit? you must be some kind of coward"
