Implies that, on average, each family has 1% of Britain's wealth!

This implies a gross acceleration of healthcare costs. Significant deregulation occured in 1980's, along with the reduction on wealthy tax rates. "Reaganomics - trickle down." When past cultures became too top heavy with accumulated wealth, they have failed.

When Medicare was initiated in 1965, the top tax rate was 70% (37% now). Top 1% had 12.7% of wealth in 1965 (30.1% now). Percapita healthcare cost in 1965 was $900 vs $13, 423 today (current dollars). -- avg between two sites.

Now we have non Drs making life/death decisions based on economics. Despite plans promising treatment, they get denied based upon knowing only a few people will fight for them. At least a public system has more accountability, unless we institute real regulatory oversight.

What you do not seem to realize, is Medicare and Medicaid are not as originally imagined. I am old enough to remember the multiple times they have been hobbled. Universal health care can work, but lobbyists block. Pvt insurance has the "death comm's" conservatoves worried about with Obamacare.

Indeed. Supercillious banality vs life and death. It is surreal to reconcile the two.

That was not my disagreement... look at other countries as well. Be sure to factor in what their social benefits are as well. You will find we are not the worst, or most generous, depending upon you viewpoint. I have not even touched upon the implied underlying core values. Another discussion.

I agree with your commentary. While she makes many good points, she also show a lack of compassion and humility by judging others without knowing fully that person's story.

The right wing evangelicals are not really Christians if they reject the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Saying you "accept him as Lord and Savior" is meaningless if rejecting what he stood for.
