Before leaving, Driedger or Glicken takes two last photos at Coldwater II.
Johnston sits in the fading light, smiling, feet up on a log, notebook in hand—instruments, the camper, and the Scout beside him.
The look of someone exactly where he’s meant to be.

Two assembled drawers, scrap wood, and a thermos of tea… also no problem!

Not even a glance from USPS staff when I visit… you’d think those mail nerds would be into 90-00’s delivery bags from other countries!

This is yet another rabbit hole I’ve dived down since being asked by my partner to “let me know when the bus is coming”

I have *ideas* for this TV:
- Display the bus tracker map along with some light funky jazz.
- Add closed captions to VHS tapes.

I can’t stress enough the level of mission creep that has occurred from my partner’s initial request of “knowing when the bus is coming”

Progress!
We’ve got stops! We’ve got the route in orange! We’ve got a way to shift the map using buttons!

Bus tracker:
- Moved to a different device so I can keep playing with it (…and not break the finished tracker for my partner).
- Added a map!

Not every bus has tracking at the moment, so I have to fallback to using scheduled times.
Also there’s fun problems, like when they swap buses and don’t turn off tracking, so I end up following a bus parked in the depot.

The bus tracker continues!
I added a light-up ‘Depart’ sign so my partner really really REALLY knows when to leave to catch the bus.

The now-confirmed and rumored additional cuts to come at NOAA/NWS are spectacularly short-sighted, and ultimately will deal a major self-inflicted wound to the public safety of Americans and the resiliency of the American economy to weather and climate-related disasters.

My partner takes the bus and needs something she can quickly glance at to make sure she’s still on time to catch it.
And wouldn’t you know it, the city has just reimplemented a web-based bus tracker with lovely JSON files I can request with CircuitPython!

The literal wealthiest man in the world donating hundreds of millions of dollars to a presidential campaign and getting rewarded with a government post where he can award his companies with contracts is the most cartoonish possible rendering of what people warned about after Citizens United.
