Disillusioned to find that the America taught about in grade school is not the real America of today.

It's weird to think that all our freedoms rely on the opinions of a few dozen people, many of whom have lives that are nothing like the people who's freedoms they are determining.

If Trump can withhold CA funds for allowing transgender sports, could another President withhold funds from TX for restricting transgender sports?
Are we just gonna allow the President to whipsaw federal funding based on ideological beliefs of one person? Is this any way to run a country?!? 🙄

"Why Is This Supreme Court Handing Trump More and More Power?"
That... THAT is the question.
For all the "originalist" talk, they seem to forget that America was established as a rejection of Kings. And, yet, their decisions are creating one. Ultimately, they are responsible for all this.

I don't live in the America I was taught about in grade school. The reality check has been heartbreaking. 😢

So Rubio is in charge of slashing and hobbling the State department, and stands aside as Trump erects harmful trade barriers, but somehow has the chutzpah to say America is not withdrawing from the world?
WTF is wrong with these people?!?

This is 💯 consistent with American culture of: You're on your own.
You're on your own with healthcare.
You're on your own with housing.
You're on your own with childcare.
You're on your own in a disaster.
Better hope you've got a lot of 💰 or you're 😱.

By this logic, we really should be ending all the coal, gas and oil subsidies. I mean... we're gonna run out of coal, gas, and oil before we run out of wind and sun.

Maybe, also, stop calling it the "Department of Justice". At least until it starts acting impartial and fair.
But... IDK... Maybe it's never been impartial and fair. 🤷♂️

It affects the United States by regulating us to be a second class follower nation rather than a world leader. And rejection of science makes us less healthy, raises our costs, and kills us earlier.
Thanks, Trump...

There are plenty of "natural" substances that are toxic, and many, many synthesized ones that are safe. This romanticized notion about "natural" foods is ridiculous, costly, and unscalable.

Please, NBC... stop reporting on this Trump "calls for" garbage. He's a non-stop word puke machine - none of it means anything.
If he actually gets something accomplished, then I'll be interested.

I wonder what it would have been like had Democratic administrations put the same kind of pressure on Fox, due to their lies and fraud, that Trump is using against CBS. 😕
Learn your lesson, Democrats. Be prepared when you're next in charge.

Yet another example of Vermont's well polished and cultivated mythological liberalism failing when put to the test.

Seems like Walmart, in response, should tell Trump to eliminate his tariffs. Why is everyone tip-toeing around the Trump insanity?

It's not just what Trump wants... it's what the GOP wants. Republicans could put an end to this, but they don't. I blame them.

Isn't this just an arguably VERY effective troll? Sheesh! All the emotional energy expended on this while she's doing actual harm to real people.
Ignore this trash. Focus on what matters.
Oh... And remember... Republicans are letting this happen.

Maybe people should stop voting for these representatives? 🤷♂️
I mean, really - besides serving the MAGA red meat of cutting social programs and attacking minorities, what do GOP legislators do that benefits the people who are electing them?

Maybe Comey shouldn't have worked so hard to get Trump elected the first time.
I used to think FBI directors (and the FBI in general) were smart and ethical. Not anymore....

How does this help the average American? Almost none of us can leave the US to go live somewhere else.
They are scared of authoritarianism. Fine. But there's not sneaking across the boarder. They're not risking their lives or living illegally in another country. They could have left whenever. Meh.

America has a problem with believing that wealth equals intelligence. Mostly, it means that you were lucky. 🍀
Even people who worked very, very hard for their success were ALSO lucky. Just think of all the people who worked very, very hard and didn't succeed.

I'd like to remind the Democrats (and Republicans) that we wouldn't be having this argument about Medicaid cuts if they had just has the vision and courage to pass universal healthcare. Hard to think we're making America "great again" while people go bankrupt and die from lack of healthcare.

I understand your points and what you envision is horrible.
I'm separating allowing people to legally get assistance to end their life because of a decision judiciously made with caring from loved ones from the government imposing death on people who are sick.

While you're at it, tell your representative you want universal healthcare for all Americans. If we had that, this GOP theater of cutting benefits to the poor (because they have the least political power) couldn't happen because we wouldn't have partitioned off the poor from the rest of us.

Well... here's hoping you never see a loved one in agony and not be able to help them.
Plus... "active killing program" as assisted suicide is a bit sensationalist. If it got to that point (unlikely), Trump's secret police will shoot people in the street - it won't be through encouraging suicide.
comment in response to

While this "patriotic duty to stay healthy" thing is absurd, America does need to reexamine it's beliefs about death.
Rethinking the stance on assisted suicide would be a good start. Allow people to choose to die with dignity without legal ramifications for the people around them.

Raising prices 10% will definitely reduce consumption which is something that needs to be done to fight climate change. So, in effect, Trump's tariffs might be one of the most effective climate change policies the US has ever enacted.
If Trump ever realizes this, he'll definitely reverse course.

People are already convinced the government is corrupt. Watching the corruption in real time validates their belief and makes them feel good. Plus, they get to be outraged. Thus, they support corruption because it fits so well in their world view.
People are confusing.

Why is the focus only on death from measles? How about the misery it causes? Or long term problems? Focusing on death really under plays how terrible this disease is.

It's clear Trump's criteria for "the best" is how loyal to Trump the person is. We all knew this to be the case.
Too bad the media just parroted what he said instead of calling him out on his BS. There was so much sane-washing of Trump that it's hard not to blame the media for his election success.

Time to take DOJ away from the President.

GOP, instead of your insulting, dumbass ideas, how about trying:
Respecting woman
Protecting woman's health choices
Providing universal healthcare
Mandate paid parental leave
Provide childcare support
In a nutshell: stop being aggressively anti-woman and anti-child.

So... RFK's MAHA cares about food dye, but air pollution is just fine?
The GOP are just against something because someone they don't like supports it?
If they were kids, these people would be diagnosed with ODD (oppositional defiant disorder).

Doesn't the military have a recruiting problem? So they can afford to force out 14,000 trained (paid for) soldiers simply out of spite?
Maybe get DOGE involved - this doesn't seem "efficient". 🤪

America has done everything it can to make you believe YOU are at fault for your illness. It has successfully persuaded people to fight against universal healthcare and tracks with Protestant beliefs:
You did something wrong, so...
You deserve to be sick, so...
We don't have to help you.

There are no Medicaid "savings" - there are only "cuts".
If Congress wants healthcare "savings" they need to step up and do the hard work of regulating the healthcare and pharma industries.
They could start by improving "efficiency": Reduce admin waste by passing universal healthcare.

What is this?!?
Demented grandpa vs demented grandpa!?!
Are the Democrats so short on qualified people that they have to parade Biden around to speak against Trump?
