Reporting live from the elementary school talent show: First up, the “Taco Bell tummy ache comedy routine”

hey can you come back later, i'm defragging my tulip fields

"So the fact that the city of Troy is getting a GIFT, FREE OF CHARGE, of a beautiful giant wooden horse..."

The most grotesque image imaginable is the President flying around on a gilded plane while his Republican allies take away our families Medicare.

True story: When I was a contractor at a NASA facility I kept M&Ms on my desk. A civil servant I worked with ate a few one day. The next day I came in to find a pound bag on my desk. He wanted to "reimburse" me because he didn't want the few he ate to be seen as a gift. Anyway

I just saw a woman sitting alone at the food court in Costco, wearing plastic gloves, eating a rotisserie chicken directly out of the bag. I’m going to be thinking about her for a while.

I just really need everybody to understand that everything that’s happening in and to the global economy now (and all the businesses and people in it) is the entirely predictable result of the intentional decisions of one guy who doesn’t understand how the global economy works.

So let me get this straight: masks are bad and un-American if worn to fight a pandemic, but good if worn by people claiming to be government agents when they kidnap people off the street

Today I learned how to just swipe away a high-five when they’ve got a Trumpy hashtag. Feels good.

A reminder that debating Stephen Miller — who is not a lawyer and is not making legal arguments, he is spouting propaganda — is a win for him.

newsrooms of the world did u know that when Rümeysa Öztürk gets out you can pay her to write an editorial, and then publish it? did u know that if all of you did this it would be a whole thing and a good one

Just sayin', as someone who grew up Catholic: if you can call the new pope by his chosen name instead of the name he was assigned at birth, you can do the same for the trans folks in your life. It's a sign of respect in both cases.

NPR receives $2-3M/year in federal funding. PBS receives $80-85M. The military-themed birthday parade Trump is throwing himself will cost taxpayers $92M. We’re told cutting news and kids programming to fund an authoritarian birthday bash somehow “makes America great again”

Heads-up to fellow Peloton folks especially newbie @502eire.lol — I reflexively returned a high five from someone before I noticed they had #Trump2024 in their profile and then I wished I hadn’t. I will happily cheer you on in your riding but if I know you still support that guy, it feels bad.

when the pope is from chicago:

Something I hope everyone covers this tomorrow notes is that...the President has no authority whatsoever to make trade deals without congress. None. Not even the pretext of one.

Serious question: what are/can we do to get ready for this?

I think I’d be pretty happy to never hear the word “peptide” again.

one of the Christian influencers I follow on instagram posted a video about how she worries people are using Chat GPT like it is god and someone left this comment and it has been stuck in my mind ever since

i think the biggest public relations coup AI boosters scored was calling it “AI.” people genuinely think it is an intelligence, and that when they query it, it is providing reasoned answers

For every doll you deny me I will push another jet off an aircraft carrier

applying for jobs again

Message from the kid's daycarein DC. I don't think I can ever forgive the people who support this. cc: @dcmigrantmutualaid.org @marisakabas.bsky.social

just so we’re all clear: the reason they keep using dolls as their example is because they’re trying to frame caring about material stuff as feminine and thus inherently shameful

Energy Star was created under George Bush in 1992. It’s helped save households and businesses $500M+ in energy costs and prevented 4B metric tons of greenhouse gases from being released into the atmosphere. The EPA under Trump plans to kill it. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/06/c...
