My own Election Day reminders: 1) We don't elect the prime minister so there is no such thing as "PM-elect". If you must, say "PM-designate" or "presumptive PM" OR, if it's Mark Carney, just say "Prime Minister", because he's literally still PM even after the results tonight. 1/n

When I was 7 or 8, my BFF and I collected buckets of garter snake "pets" from a hiberniculum on her farm. I was holding one when it somehow bit me... ON THE NOSE! I will never forget that mouth coming towards me or hydrogen peroxide stinging the pin prick wounds across the bridge of my nose.
