I am a Christian and reckon those in Trump's govt who profess to be Christians are reading a very different version of the gospels. My God loves mankind without exception. Their God sure doesn't.

Mum was born at the start of the war and lost a friend to diphtheria and her dad had TB. We were v early 70s bairns and got every jab going. Had MMR been a thing back then we would have had it. Instead my Mumps immunity is because I was v ill bairn with it. If I could get the COVID jab I'd take it.

Agreed. Keeping abreast of social, economic and political developments in Scotland, the rest of the UK, Europe and the rest of the world with a particular focus on other anglophone nations is a major part of my job and it's the USA news that depressed and enrages me the most since Jan.

How many women in her constituency wear a burqua?

Our cat, Freya, sometimes gets a bit mardy over food and we have offered to ring Cats Protection for her to see if they can find her a new home that is even more cat centred. The irony is she is ex-rescue and a former stray. When first adopted Freya ate anything she was given. Oh the irony

I'm very surprised about Alan's lack of interest.

I'm surprised Alan hasn't smelt a rat as far as Crispin is concerned. We have several friends from our student days who are clergymen or women and they know the other folk in the same line of business in their respective localities. #thearchers

A fair chunk of the rest of the world would agree only we are experiencing the economic consequences without a choice in the matter. Kind of ironic since I'm a Brit and know the cause of the War of Independence 😏

It will be interesting to see what difference Musk's threats make to Republicans in the Senate or House of Representatives.

A HR colleague did a look at name frequency and worked out just how stuffed some org units would be if everyone with the same name went for the next voluntary severance package - suffice it to say got bugger up business.

Know what you mean. I work with four Susans, and five Jennifers, and as for Andy, Andrew, David and Dave - call out those names and you could get a stampede.

I'm delighted as a labour member but must admit I'm surprised the seat didn't stay SNP with labour fighting Reform for 2nd. Very aware that Scotland isn't short of its own folk whose views align with Reform - we aren't as tolerant a nation as we would like to say we are.

I agree - just didn't have a characters left to make that point

I'm guessing it's a projection based on the likely impact of the cuts to USA aid programmes, WHO membership as well as cuts to USA federal research funders. But much of that would have happened regardless of Musk or not given what's in Trump's budget bill that is the cause of Musk turning on Trump

FFS there are Democrats that want to kiss Musk’s *ss? Musk is a Nazi who will could care less about helping anyone but himself. The Democratic leaders have lost their minds, their sensibilities and their dignity and are becoming MAGAts

I love the ladybird illustrations so much. As a child I don't think I appreciated them. I am so glad you post illustrations from the Golden era of Ladybird books every day. They are always a positive in the day. Thank you, Helen

We've been joined by the cat who came in early for a summer night. She only joins us when she's cold. We act as hot water bottles

And enthusiasm plus oodles of positively imagination to conjure up the evil plot developments you JUST know the #thearchers SL would love to use

Even elderly cats can behave like kittens sometimes although thankfully they never forget that bad kittenhood experience of trying to climb an Xmas tree because it ends badly
