This makes… no sense. There’s no use case for genAI here. Navigation is a solved problem. Music and audio is a solved problem. And GenAI has no possible role in driving.

My wife’s friend was telling us about the dumb, hot, new-agey guy she’s hooking up with, including how he “blends his water” I was the only one to catch this nugget and ask a follow-up question. And yes, he just fills up his blender with water and blends it before he drinks it. No one knows why

WHY. LIKE. Why is everyone so hellbent on trashing their reputation for what? Saving like three hours of time????? Was it worth it @chicago.suntimes.com?????????????? Embarrassing shit. Why would anyone read a paper if you can’t be bothered to write?

Stand aside Turing, we now have The Potato Test.

Dutton is really going down in history as one of the major fuckups in Australian politics. That makes me happy. The arc of history is long, and this has been a very satisfying conclusion

Did the ALP pay the right wing media to choose to make the first fight after the election on the super tax break changes for over $3m???!!!

The president’s son sounds about as welcome as a stage 5 metastatic cancer diagnosis, which to be fair is a step up from his dad.

Via Haaretz: Netanyahu has repeated his mission, saying “we are going to take over all of Gaza”, admitting that aid is being allowed in, only because Israel’s reputation is being damaged. Yet our politicians pretend that Israel is not committing genocide or ethnic cleansing. A disgrace.

Australian scholar, Melanie O’Brien (President of the International Association of Genocide Scholars) said “Israel’s deliberate denial of food, water, shelter and sanitation was the key factor in her determination that the military campaign was a genocide.” All Oz media will quote her tomoz right?

If you love Matthew Meyer's #yokai art (see below), I would highly recommend his fabulous books (outline of each in thread). They have all his gorgeous art alongside information about the yokai. I have learnt so much from his work. Follow him @yokai.com and books available here: yokai.com/shop/.

Asking seriously — how does @theonion.com keep up at this point?

This is horrific. The UK is going backwards on human rights. No wonder the Tories are collapsing. Labour is doing their job for them. observer.co.uk/news/nationa...

I hate Timothy Leary but one good story about him is they gave him a psychological test when he went to prison and found out that he was meek and posed no risk and then he escaped from the minimum security prison by swinging on the telephone wires, because he had written the test they had given him.

Trump just tried to take over the Library of Congress by firing its first Black librarian and is installing his own lawyer in her place. The move is the latest attack by Trump on the legislative branch and attempt to expand executive power. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Yes. This.

It seems pretty silly when people assume that a large account on Bluesky somehow makes money but I am reminded of when I saw my local tv news weatherman at the grocery store and was so impressed because I assumed he was a billionaire for being on ABC7 telling us about hail

In 1974 I had responsibility for design of the Whitlam policy on child care building on the 1972 Child Care ACT. 1976- 1982 I ran the Liberal government child care program. Commonwealth funding of child care was exclusivel to local government & not for profits. No scandals

Reminder: the Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen posts are just to distract from the Qatari "gift" or the fact that he's trying to rip Medicare and Medicaid from millions of Americans right now.

Business leaders lobbied against changes to IR in the first term and the govt chose to ignore them because their arguments were self-interested horseshit. They should treat the miners’ spin the same.

Noticeable that teenagers routinely demonstrate an ability to speak more clearly about right and wrong than almost every elected leader in the Democratic Party. (See also: gun control, gay rights, racism, etc.)

There's going to be a brilliant comedy gig in Exeter on Wednesday 21 May featuring Mike Wozniak, Spencer Jones and a bunch of other comedians, to raise funds for the the comedy festival in June. Two thoughts: (1) a lot of these folks would like to be actual aristocracy but are settling for digital servants because it's more palatable (2) there are lots of activities you cannot offload without making you less effective at your job. Research involves the brain equivalent of muscle memory

I love this title sequence so much! Among other other cool things, the colors of the background when it's on the space journey are the colors of the Sanctuary Moon show.

I swear to freaking god there was a time when a lawyer who was found to have forged information to use in a court would face a punishment stronger than having to deliver an apology Why the hell aren't the people who create harmful lies using automated tools facing WORSE consequences?

I love how News Corp attacks our voting system rather than acknowledging Australian voters chose those preferences. The Trumper accusations stuck because News Corp shouted the Liberals’ hard-right credentials for months. If anyone’s to blame for the losses, it’s News Corp. #AusPol #CryHarder

The Australian has a whole section these days called "Anti-Semitism" which is basically a daily target list of anyone who has expressed any of the following: - criticism of Israel - opposition to Zionism - concern about genocide - support for the Palestinian people

Is the Oz going to go after large swathes of the Australian writing community? Some of us were in Melbourne with the admirably principled Aviva Tuffield last week. To be absolutely clear, we are opposed to the actions of the Israeli govt in Gaza.

Let's focus on one of the most serious crimes a woman in politics can commit: getting through perimenopause with her own hair and then standing outside.
