The next generation don’t vote. There are fewer of them due to demographics but even then they don’t vote. Parties will pander to ppl who do - the boomers who’ll always vote in their own immediate interests cos they’re not going to be around for climate and societal collapse

That’s what they used to think but the research indicates that old advice was wrong. Phytoestrogens don’t act in the body like estrogen. Have a look on PubMed if you want evidence

I’ve had breast cancer and my doctor recommended I increase my soy intake as it’s associated with a lower risk of recurrence. My cancer was estrogen positive
comment in response to

Note phytoestrogens aren’t estrogen and have some opposite effects. For example reducing the risk of breast cancer but also reducing the risk of prostrate cancer in men. Japanese have lower rates of these cancers due to all the soy they eat

That’s largely a myth

Vegan Icecream is great but even as a vegan I wouldn’t recommend vegan cheese. I was recommended not to eat it the first year I went vegan - once you forget what it tastes like it’s fine

I blocked the idiot BTW, but the idea that if a woman tells a story about being abused, like my butch lesbian friend's story, it's only believable if you give names, dates & location. Which of course I'm not going to do! Women are of course not believed - DOXing the person doesn't help that

I said on Bluesky, after watching the DNC that they failed to mention the working class. I was told that in USA working = middle class. I was sceptical but enough ppl said it I thought they must be right. Now I realise I was onto something. Shame

He’s chasing the Reform UK votes. Also this Supreme Court ruling was started in 2018 under the previous government so he’s recently on the band wagon

It might persuade him to keep his transphobia a bit more ‘closeted’ in future if he thinks his voters don’t like it NB they don’t

I thought we were having a friendly discussion? And surely you can see why ppl are not going to give names when talking about discrimination. If you Google it you’ll stories where women have reported incidents if you want “evidence”

Thank you. We’re hoping it’ll stabilise her blood pressure. She’s currently on 5 different meds and it still gets dangerously high. Dead kidneys pump out hormones that raise BP

I was sharing a story not giving evidence. And I know the person it happened to but won’t disclose personal details. It’s not an isolated story at all - it’s quite common in the lesbian community

Of course. Why do ppl think corporations had DEI policies? Because it increased their profits that’s the only reason they do anything. Cancelling DEI for misguided political reasons is stupid business

False flag! He was probably trans. He was paid off by the woke CIA It’s AI. They were all paid actors. Fake news - it never happened. Have I missed any excuses?

You said it. I do find it fascinating, but watching those TikToks of MAGAs suggesting centralising the means of production... well if it wasn't so tragic, it'd be hilarious.

That's your trauma talking. Why would you believe you are likeable if your own family didn't accept you? But the truth is you are perfectly likeable and some autistic/ADHD friends might be just the thing you need. Be brave and don't let those negative voices hold you back.

Good luck with that (for her). I'm being overwhelmed with messages from friends who know my allyship (and my NB son) and want to let me know they support trans ppl. I'm asking ppl to support the Good Law Project if they want to put their money where their mouth is. A lot of cis-het ppl are allies

Collective punishments are illegal in the United Nations charter for a reason! You know there's a link between the rise in authoritarian parenting and the rise of the far right? Alice Miller's book "For Their Own Good", about Hitler, explains the theory well

Sorry to hear that. There is a thriving autism community online particularly on things like Discord

Apologies dyslexia + autocorrect, that's Left -Right Axis
comment in response to

For example in UK, Labour voters are considered left wing because they believe in state intervention in industries and public services, but many hold conservative values on LGBT+, immigration, womens rights etc. So are they right wing? Some say yes. I say "Why? What? How?"

🤣I think some people's heads might explode. At uni (I was a mature student so not that long ago) I wrote an essay called "Does the Left-Write Axis apply to modern expressions of political discourse?". I concluded not. I think an Authoritarian - Progressive spectrum works better

Look after yourself. LGBTQ+ people have lived through worse - I'm too old so I remember. And the general public is much more aware and supportive these days. Whatever impression you may get from the flood of trolls and bots in recent days. There must be a reason they're trying so hard 🤔

Most of us of a certain age were spanked. Not saying its good but it was normalised. Psychological punishments often produce worse outcomes though. I think authoritarian parenting and therapies like ABA are biggest risk factors

I should add that a major trigger for meltdown is sensory and cognitive overload, which isn't the same as being traumatised. Its because autistic brains can't filter out overload as well as neurotypical brains. But I teach clients tricks to reduce that and cope better

That's pretty much what the science suggests. So in my family most are autistic but those with higher support needs typically have additional issues going on. Prematurity for instance is linked to having greater issues. And 30% of autistics are also epileptic, which can cause TBIs
comment in response to

I'm a therapist working with neurodivergence. My autistic clients typically have trauma on top of autism. Its not the autism which gives them low self esteem and fear of people, its the bullying, harassment, 'therapy' which taught them to mask too much etc. My 3 autistic kids don't have MH issues

So I'd argue ppl with high support needs also need the right environment so they can thrive. After all, none of us can be sure that we're not going to need 24/7 support one day.

I've had a lot of experience with ppl with high support needs and additional intellectual disabilities. Met such a person this morning! Profoundly disabled ppl are part of society and deserve to be supported to live as independent lives as they can manage - even if just their drinks order

I once had anaphylaxis from a food dye not legal in UK, so I hear you. It was a green sweet so might have been blue dye? I don't trust blue food. But it didn't make me autistic or worsen my ADHD, it just stopped me breathing

If you mean me. 1. I'm British and we didn't have 'Red Scare' The Communist Party of Gt Britain was an ordinary part of the political process. 2. I've read Marx, Gramsci & contemporary Marxist thinkers as I have a degree in politics. 3. I grew up in Germany and visited East Germany

That's why I didn't realise my eldest was autistic. They just seemed so normal in our family (90% autistic). We thought they were neurotypical as they had friends. But their doctor said it was because we were so autism friendly they didn't suffer the stresses of many kids growing up autistic

I think we need prevention in the form of proper consent education. I don't really care about revenge these days. I don't really want them in my head, YKWIM?

😀I was only diagnosed with autism, but my daughter's a psychologist so we're sure I'm also ADHD. There's a lot of us about who have been missed. I was only diagnosed as I live near Cambridge and they needed guinea pigs for some autism experiments

I was 'mislead' by a boy who gave me weak beer but put vodka in it. I didn't really drink so didn't realise what was happening until too late. I honestly don't think he knew it was wrong - preacher's kid, totally ignorant about sex etc
